Ok Guys, WHICH 440 Should I go With???

I need to know yesterday!! JK! What kits work the best? Any problem with cracked sleeves? I do know that I want 11:1 JE Piston. Some Help Quick!!:huh

almost everyone else uses a short rod, you do not want that !!!!!


Just get an IMS 440 kit don't run the base and get the .025 head gasket ...

The kit refered to (IMS/WB J&E ) was the one that was driving me nuts getting set up correctly, its not bad just off a little and none of the people involved had any answers or info.

Just my opinion but if I had to do a 440 again I wouldnt be thinking about any kits but would be picking the individual parts I wanted.

if I had to do a 440, I would get a 4mm stroker and a 416 bore, best of both worlds. IMS kits are known for cracking sleeves, get an engine builders sleeve, it will need to have the cases machined but its worth it.

FDO= For Dirt Only :D That is where I got mine from. I got Mike's 463 kit and love it! :devil They are real good to deal with and does top quaility work.
I agree if you do a stroker to a 440 you WILL MAKE MORE POWER compaired to a big bore kit. It is quite a bit more money but beleive me it is worth every penny. :)

the question is how much power do you want out of your 440. just something to play around with or a real race machine? If you are just wanting somthing around 40 hp it doesn't matter what you get or really who does it. (any well known company) If you want more HP than that, then you do need to look around. FDO can get 48hp out of a bored 440 and I am not sure what kinda HP he can get out of a stroker.

i run a baldwin/fisher 440stroker and i love it...it kicks some serios *** in the holehshot too

Hey GNCCer, did you get your motor back from Mike yet?

NOT yet but real soon! The rods took much longer than expected but he has everthing thing at the shop now it is just putting it back together. should be this week sometime.
Which will work out perfect I have several other things I need that will be here tomorrow. Do you still like yours?

Shane I saw your motor the last time I was there. It was getting pretty close to the "TO DO LIST" . I kow there are three of us that have strokers he has to finish so we can go to the first GNCC! Your going to love the 493 when you get it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TC could build you a good 440, but if you want it back fast look at FDO, Duncan, don't think LRD is to bad, Pro Fab, Baldwin, Fischer's, and more...

Dude i just got off the phone with tom carolson(tc) and he said that if you are racing mx go he would reckamend the 425 hit because it doesn't need to get a new sleve, revs higher, and the 440 is sommin like 40,000 of a inch bigger which isnt that much more power. take that any way you want but that is what i would go with . Piston kit is 105 and cam is 180.
than you can get a carb for 290 and youll be set for motor mods for a long while. than focus on suspention

Yep that is Tom for ya. He could really make a 425 scream if you wanted him too.

Mine will scream in about 3 months with his 425 kit and the exaust is just icing on the cake warriorman:D
