what are the extra connections at the stator connector for?
what are those other wires on the right?
the ones with the black connectors?
i have a nice 88 harness that does not have those..

harness is for sale and last picture shows where the coil connectors have been modified!!

the black connector wires are spare auxiliary wires that can be used for additional low wattage running lights

was that exclusive to the 89 only?

all year 250r's had them. remember 85-88 stators are the same. 89 is different, as it has different connectors. I believe 85-88 used all single connectors and in 89 it was changed to igniton coil and pickup to have 2 dual connectors for them and single ones for lighting power. BTW it can power up to a 100w light, just make sure the regulator is connected. 87-89 harnesses are identical, except for the different stator plugs on 89.

If you check the 250R wiring Diagram.....the Black wire with the white stripe & green wire are for the Key Switch

:devil: yep your right!!!! i was thinking about the brown / dark green wires at the tail light end!!!!

on the 86 there is only one set for the handlebar switch and on the 87-89 there are two sets one for key and one for handle bar switch
