I have been workin on an 04 450R. i cant get it to spark. I have took everything off of a runnin quad, the CDI, Coil, Capacitor, the condenser basically everything that i know of that goes bad came off a runnin quad and still no spark. It dont have any kind of aftermarket kill switch. The stator is putting out juice because the lights will flicker when you kick it. The ground on the coil is makin good contact so what else can i look for. Thanks

Just because the lights flicker doesn't mean the stator is good. I'm in the middle of the very same thing right now. I will know for sure if it was the stator tonight, but I have also changed out all of the above, and have had to put a stator in more than one 05 before.

there are different coils on a stator typically a charge or light coil, source coil and a trigger coil if the source or trigger are bad the light will still flicker.....also make sure your switches work properly

As mentioned, the stator consist of three functions. The ignition pulse generator is the small black squared component attached to the stator bundle. This produces your spark.

the pulse generator is a prximity switch! MR4 has it right its a trigger, that opens a gate in the cdi allowing the spark from the stator from the sourse, at the proper time

I bet it's the pickup I have lost 2 on the 04' but have never lost one on any of the 05' There is test to check it.

i had an 05 i couldn"t get to fire. ended up being a broken wire right in front of the rectifier. just something to check.
