2008 400ex bought new 2 months ago, only one tank of fuel ran through it. Runs perfect with fuel shut off on reserve, but dies when moved to "on". Could it already be clogged?

My 05 markings on the side cover do not match the markings on the tank (from the factory) Are you sure the knob is mounted in the correct position?

We laugh the loudest, when we learn to laugh at ourselfs.
(yes,.... I'm laughing from personal experience too).

Funny how it also seems alot easier to prevent killing your battery,...
when you put the panic switch in the center position too ! :p

(Go ahead,... I'll give you just one guess on how I came to discover that one too ! :D ).

I been there, wouldnt run on fuel but ran on reserve. Coulndt understand why as it seemed like it had plenty of gas, added some fuel and bingo it ran on fuel setting.

Sitting on the gate one day waiting for the signal to start ‘em up. When suddenly the old ex wouldn’t start. I’m cranking and cranking to no avail. Just before the gat falls I discover the kill switch is on. We all are guilty of stupidity, are we man enough to admit it?

i hate it when i start it with the fuel off and then run it out of gas and wonder why it won't run or start again.

it only takes a couple rounds of forgetting the small things and then you learn to check the obvious stuff after it won't start or run the first time.

Even more fun when your riding, stab the throttle and wonder why it dies cause your main tanks out.

I keep mine full too, but with all the performance mods and 6 hours of hard riding it dont last that long.

One day I went to start my quad and it wouldn't start I kept cranking it and cranking it but nothing I pushed it out the the road and coasted it down the hill and tried to catch it in gear... Still nothing I then looked down and my brother had put the gas on the off position >.< felt so stupid in front of my girlfriend hahaha.

And a different day I was riding the trails pretty hard and my quad died out of no where couldn't get it started again after a while of trying and making sure I had gas and that it was on I then noticed I had bumped the kill switch >.< looking back those were some funny situations.

I noticed the same thing on my 2000.

The petcock on the tank says ON is UP and RESERVE is DOWN.

The side panel says the opposite.

I notice more fuel flow comes out when (petcock position) is UP. Which marking is correct, the petcock?

if you have 2000 plasticds and a 200 fuel tank then you're markings should be teh same.

My 07 is different than my 01 but the 01 side plastic markings match the petcock.

i doubt if they would make a model with the plastics indicating the wrong direction. now if somebody has put newer plastics on an older model then it won't match up.

reserve and on are basically the exact same thing, technically you can run on reserve with the tank full, you don't have to be low on gas to use the reserve it stays full until there is no more gas in the main tank, then you are using reserve and that's all you got!

the only time on won't work is if you're levels are all the way down to the reserve, otherwise reserve and on will do the same thing.
