kickstarter problem

my kickstart lever stays down when i kick it and when i pick it back up it falls back down, what could my problem be?

return spring maybe broken hopfully no case damage !! check before riding any more!!!!

how would i check to see if the return spring is broke, just take my side cover off and pull the spring out? what would a broke on look like?

the spring has one end that goes into the spindle shaft and the other end hooks to the case, more then likely its broken at the spindle

it still hooks into the shaft and the motor but it feels like it dont have tension on it, should it have tension?

ya there should be some tension on it when in the up position and more tension as you kick ...

I know your have a 04 but the mechanics are about the same!!
I couldnt copy my 04 book!!

thanks for the diagrams man, i found out what my problem was i have the spring in the wrong place thats why it doesnt have no tension i think

did you just replace it???? if so make sure the spring is for the 04/05 as the +06 is different!!

no i didnt replace it i installed a stroker crank and put it back together today and it started doing it

make sure you have all the index dots lined up and were ther supossed to be or the recoil can brake the case if you put together wrong

i didnt notice any marks on my gear are they on the back side of it?

Ill have to check but I think just the ratchet and and spindle,, but I will double check its been a while

EDIT: ya just the ratchet to the spindle then the kick arm to the spindle are the only punch marks

alright, ill try to check it out 2m and make sure my spring isnt broke and line up all the punch marks and see if that fixes it
