I dealt with this problem last winter. First time ever removing the stock hubs. One side slid off no problem the other side was an absolute PITA to get off.

Don't bother whacking it with a dead blow or mallet. I tried that for a while lol. The problem is the inner race of the bearing gets rusted/seized to the steel surface on the spindle shaft.

Get a big 2 or 3 jaw puller and clamp it to the hub and start cranking. It will come off with loud pop once it comes free...scared me a little when it happened because I was cranking and cranking with nothing happening. Sucker was really on there.

Wow lol i was thinking about that already and was gonna try it later today.
Just wanted to see if there was an easier way to do it first.

Oh and I forgot this happened as well. As I was pulling, the bearing was so stuck on there that it actually pulled the bearing right out of the hub...leaving the bearing stuck on the spindle shaft.

At that point I heated the inner race up with a torch and then sprayed it with PB Blaster. Then I put a smaller 3 jaw puller on the bearing itself and got it to bust free.

Once it's off clean up the spindle shaft with some fine sandpaper and grease the hell out of that sucker before you put the hub back on.

Cool casue thats the only real major thing i need to do to finish up my build is get those bearings in and the steering stem bearing and stem. And get a lock nut them im pretty much done

Good luck, hope it's not too much of a pain.

For the stem bearing just face the frame from the bottom. Match up a large socket (I used an impact socket) to the bearing and whack it with a hammer. It'll come out after a few hits.

Don't forget to remove the snap ring from the top first. And also helps to soak the bearing in penetrating oil before you got at it.

Nope already got the steering stem one out, it was a real PITA cause the inner race broke out leaving just the small lip of the outer race to try and get a hold of to get it out.
But i got it and got all my replacements so im set to put all the new stuff in.

Go to the parts store and get something called (never size) it looks like a gray graphite grease. Put a good coating of that on the races before you reinstall. It will never size up again.

Already did. Figured that would be a good idea to do while i had it apart.

I realize that this is a little late to do you any good this time, but just as some food for thought, and later projects,...

make yourself up a mixture of 50% ATF, and 50% acetone.
it penetrates better, and helps to break loose stuck parts much better than PB Blaster, WD-40, or Liquid wrench.

here's a link to an interesting thread I ran across some time ago...
