My honda 400ex rebuild

Hey all, iam gonna rebuild my 400ex over the winter. It hasnt been rebuilt since it was given to my dad for free brand new in 01, it was for a sponsership deal. Everything on it is still stock. Iam working on a limited budget to rebuild this thing but i hope when its done its gonna be good.

heres a pic of it before i started to break it down a bit. The rims are painted black because i dont have the money at the moment to buy all new rims. These will just have to do for now.

The motor is coming out and going to a shop buy me to get a A Wiseco 11:1 87mm piston with rings and circlips,and a Namura Big Bore top end gasket kit.

I also bought a set of probend handlebar guards for it.
I need to get 2 tie rods for it, black nerf bars.
I dont know what kind of exhuast to get yet for it but iam thinking a hmf. I am gonna do jetting to it but iam not quite sure what iam gonna do. i know i deffantly need to get more air flow though. Any oppions and tips will be greatly apperciated it.

I grew up in the monster truck world so rebuilding this should be a peice of cake. Just need the tips to get me along.

Sounds like your on the right track. You gunna go all black to match your dads batman truck?

kinda, Iam not trying to make it look like the batman truck in anyway but iam trying to find black nerf bars for cheap and a black front bumper to put on it and iam gonna keep the yellow plastics but i need to find a graphics kit for it because the one that is on there is shot.

mods i dont plan on doing much. i wanna lower the ride height down because its way to high nd high sides alot. and iam going to get a tapered carrier for it cuz i keep blowing them out left and right.. iam not rele sure other then that. iam kinda new to this whole quad sence. Ive rhode for years but the mods and all iam clueless on what i should do and shouldnt do. so like i said tips are helpfull. right now i do know iam doing the 416 big bore kit and the jetting kit. and an exhuast. but other then that idk what iam gonna do unless ppl give good tips lol.

Ya if i were you i would find yourself a used slip-on pipe since it will be alot cheaper, Then go with a 416 10:1 or 11:1 comp Stage one mayb two cam or a sparks x1 cam if you can find one cheap.

As for the suspension, how about some yfz450 front shocks they should get the front end down about 2in but you have to modify the top of the shock to fit the EX frame.

Y not just find yourself some factory graphics and put on there?? Ive always liked the way they looked im going to get mine custom made and somewhat base them off the factory graphics but put 426EX instead of 400ex.

the 416 kit iam getting is 11:1 and i didnt plan on doing any bottom end work to the motor unless it had to be done. I aint rich lol. iam deffainlty trying to find a used slip on exhuast i just dont know where to look. i looked on ebay and nothing was cheap that looked in good shape. and the shock idea is a good one. i am gonna have to try that. but how do i get the back end down and still got alot of travel? i love jumping my quad. and for the graphics i was thinking that to but i dont know where to get them either. like i said before this is all new to me. i just rhode the **** out of the quad forever now time to fix it and take care of it.

Well you could always check into the GT thunder shock linkage, i think you have to run a longer shock with the XC one im not 100% sure tho.

For a pipe, i would keep my eyes open on here, But you will have to dig through a lot of 450r stuff to find any 400ex stuff. Also check your local craigslist

As for the Graphics, what about something like these off of ebay.
