Looking for a helmet cam and have a couple questions.
My friend uses a Go Pro Hero HD that can record in up to 1080p. Its like a 300 dollar helmet cam not including the SD card.
Looking on ebay and found a couple that will only record up to 960p but is still HD, how much of a difference would that make in quality??
Or should i just go head and buy HD Motorsports HERO from Go pro for 300$$ Then get an SD card or see if my buddy has an extra??
Here are some links to his vids shot in 1080p

What do you plan to do with the camera and footage? If you just makin utube videos the hd1080 types are alittle overkill. Ive got a contour that works pretty good for less than 2 bills

Yep it will be pretty much for YT and my own viewing.
Gonna be alot of fast trail riding and some MX track riding, so a little bit of every riding condition, Do you have any vids with that cam I could see??

Heres one of the videos from youtube. The footage is alot better on the computer. when you put them on yt it seems to downgrade a bit. you can see more of my videos from this one to get a idea of different conditions. BTW my editing skill suck:)

I forgot that lol! it does record in hd but those were shot in the lowest setting because I havent bought the bigger memory card. My buddy has one with the hd on it and its very clear. Ill see if I can find his vids.

i got a new hero 1080 off of craigslist. only used it once while snowmobiling on the 960 setting. replayed it through my regular tv and it looks pretty good(to me). suprised how steady it was mounted on my helmet. i put the 4gb card out of my camera in it and it lasted about 40 minutes, just got an 8 at walmart, and have a 32 coming. also got 2 extra battery packs coming as the originals get about 2.5 hrs. you can get the older 960 camera's for $160-170 on ebay. 1080's are around $260-$270. it all adds up quickly though.

Another thing that drew me to the contour was its size. The go pro looks like a small television straped to your helmet. I like the way the contours strap through your goggles.

Is it like this one? found it on craigslist but seems really expensive and has no explanation i can get a new go pro 1080p and a decent Card for that price

you can get that with a 16 gig card for the same price on ebay. it has GPS though, the regular contour doesn't. i'd offer him 300 and see if he bites if you're interested

Unless you are going to be watching it in HD then the HD is useless. On the other hand the full HD version will record longer and the battery will last longer. The HD uses a lithium battery. That’s really the deference in the two. I am waiting till I can afford the HD. Also they have come out with a 3D version but it requires 2 HD cameras.

Well i watch most of my videos in 480 on youtube because my computer doesnt like to load HD on youtube for some reason, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. I can post HD but i just dont usually watch it in HD.
Im still liking the Idea of the 1080p Go pro.
I think thats the way i want to go, my buddy is on his second one (lost the first one in a crash) but has never really had any problems.
Here is another vid he posted yesterday with his old cam before he lost it, this is me and him riding around by our houses.
I just think its pretty good quality and to me worth whatever i would spend on one.
