red springs are correct
i assume you have a rpm gauge
im not sure what rpm to stall @ 5k just a guess maybe lower ??
with the unit on a stand slowly press the gas till the rear tires start to quiver that is the stall rpm then adjust to your machine and rider preference
i would use that ring i think it helps with torsional twist on the torsion spring for longer life. But i could be wrong!

The ring centers the spring in the shoe clutch, so yes, you need to use it.

Tell us about the rest of your quad. What engine/mods? Air cooled? What pipe?

The tension on the clutch shoes is only a part of the whole combination.

I run one on a 70cc with the res springs and with a tach i set it at 6500 with the quad on the ground.I also use a 1500 ztr spring and you need to use the ring.

It has been known to tote them off the line but not high or far.

I set our mod 50 at 6200k, quad on the ground, no rider. We run 19.5g on the rollers, peak hp is only around 10500k. I would think you could go higher on the stall. It is a bit of a rider preference also, as Fomospede said. We had to put a little dab of blue loctite on each of the 3 adjuster screws, I had one back out during a ride and it left the clutch engaged on one shoe off idle.

yes are 50 is right there over 6k as well
weve been playing with a 70 for 2011
seems like the clutch works best around 57-5800 rpm
and will bring the tires up for a second of the line
any higher and the clutch temp starts rising up
longevity is the game for us xc guys!

Good point on heat in the cvt. I know when Jack was a throttle blipper and even still on tight indoor tracks heat will get the best of the springs in no time.
