I've already got my Sparks exhaust in.. Which looks beastly!! So when I was looking at it there was no clamp in the box.. Doe's there need to be a clamp between the head pipe and the muffler? Thanks!

Should be, if there isnt one you can get one off bike bandit afaik if sparks doesnt offer it.

Or, it could be its springs that hold it on, does it have springs.

No.. But it's really tight around the head pipe even without a clamp

If its has a bunch of vertical cuts on the pipe then it should use a clamp. I would call sparks to make sure.

well if it is really snug u might just need some rtv high temp sillicone to seal the pipe. A lot of pipes use that to seal the pipe to the header

there is no clamp on that exhaust, my buddy has one and it just fits snug. u can alwys use a 2 inch exhaust clamp to make it sturdier if you need too.

Should the header pipe turn blue after the first ride.. It's right where it connects to the motor

Definitely not, did you spill anything on it?

If the header turns blue its getting to hot which means its to lean.

Up your jet one size or try playing with the air/fuel screw maybe.

Well the jet that came with it is 155 that's what I have it in... They gave me a extra one put it's 159 I think

is that a slip on? what other mods do you have? there could be some discoloration from something they put on the exhaust or something that got on there, is it backfiring?

BenHonda400ex

It kinda back fires put it only doe's it if I get on the throttle really hard then left off.. And it's a full exhaust and there isn't any ceramic coating on it

Where is the air/fuel screw at?

put the 159 in there. you may even need something bigger than that. what year is the quad? u can see a picture of the a/f screw in the jeting tutorials, it will shw you better than we can explain it.

It's a 05... Where do you get these jetting tutorials?

the a/f or pilot screw is the top screw in figure 1.

you can access it from outside the carb bowl.

since you have a 2005 you will need a D shaped tool in order to adjust this screw (it's flathead in figure 1 and older models) or you can make something home made. you can get it from dynojet.

the header will blue no matter what. that is how stainless works no matter if it is jetted properly or not.

155 main without aftermarket filter
159 with the filter

3.5 turns out on the f/a

leave the rest.

that is very true, it's gonna get color.

if it's popping after you get on it and decel you could still probably use a bigger mainjet.

I think it might be jetted right.. Because I mean I was driving the crap out of it and it barely ever back fired...

popping on decel is not a bigger main...

it requires a bigger pilot or a f/a adjustment at the very least.

go out .5 turn on the f/a and it wont do it all then. you can probably turn it easy enough without the tool for that little bit of a turn. steve

Okay turn clock way or opposite clock way

honda400ex2003

counter clockwise lol that would probably be around 2.75-3 turns out from lightly seated if you get mixed up. steve

if you would like to you can. it would be 3 turns out from lightly seated. dont crank it tight though, just snug it and back it out from there.
