416 valves

What do the valve gaps need to be with a 416? I've got some valve noise and i'm wondering what feelers to get.

.004" for the intake side

.005" exhaust



I highly recommend the feeler gauge tool from Motion Pro. It has the .004/.005 feeler built into it and is a lot easier to manipulate while adjusting the valves than a standard feeler gauge. The angle is also perfect for the valves on the 400. Makes it so much easier.

those are the stock settings? is that where it should be with a bore kit? i guess i assumed they may need to be different.

Unless you have a hotcam it is the same stock or big bore.

I got two of those feeler gauges that Nacs suggested and they work perfect, they are pretty darn small though but worth every penny.

i just got these in the mail yesterday.

I'm going to set the valve gaps and see what's going on. it may need new springs on the beater. it's definetly doing some ticking right now. It runs strong but it ticks
