Well i found some elka stag 3 shocks finally. But not sure if they will fit the 400. His add says

"Elka Suspension, used not raced. Part #'s CH3079 & CH3080. Fits TRX450ER & TRX400EX. May fit other machines."

I talked to him and he said it fit his 250r (not 400) and 450r. My question is are these gonna fit my 400ex? I dont wanna get them and find out they dont fit. Any input?

Should fit with no issues if they fit a 250r and 450r. Stock 450r shocks will fit a 400ex with ease.

With out modding them? I know the stock 450r shocks need to be modded to fit. Dont know if i wanna do that to some elkas.

They look thinner on top than the standard 450r shocks. You can modifiy your frame by smashing off the nut and replacing with a carriage bolt and slightly relieving the frame by the shock mount. Its easy.

Worst case you can resell them here or ask the guy to take them back. But they should fit.

if there thinner on top how would they fit the 450r mount snugly? Some kind of spacer?

I doubt it.

I think thinner would be the wrong word here maybe. What I mean is the top of the shock eye doesnt appear to be as large (as in hitting the nut on the mount of the EX like the stock 450r shocks) as other shocks.

If they fit a 450r and a 250r they will fit an EX. Only difference is they might be a hair longer but thats nothing an adjustment cant cure.

haha thanks guys. Yeah im from Ontario, Canada. You think $340 is a decent price for them? Any ideas on what might work good for a small spacer if i need it? Not sure if i wanna red neck big washers on. lol. imo

if you do need some washers try to find some brass ones to use. they will be better than stainless or steel ones being a bit softer than the others. 340 can is a great price for them. I would probably sell my 450 ones and get those if i could find some for that price lol. steve
