question on covering a gas tank

i have a red like new gas tank on my atc250r i would like a black one but instead of buying one for $250 i figured there has to be a way to cover this one somehow to save some $$$ i want it to be black any help will be good

If its metal you can paint it, plastic cant be painted unless you use real automotive paint with a flex agent added.

if its like new dont paint it, sell it and find a sun faded one, prep it up and hit it with black fusion, i ran it on a 200x i had lasted 2 yrs and was still holding strong when i sold it, leg rubbing and all
