Okay so I just picked up a 2004 Yfz450. Thing runs great don't get me wrong but I need some help. So basically the thumb throttle is REALLY hard to push, I can barely push it full throttle and I've got a pretty good thumb. I know that Yfz's have a stiff throttle but this is excessive. I picked up a new cable but not sure if that will help. Wondering if it's the thumb throttle itself or the spring in the carb.

Than my next question is about the front brake lever. It's really floppy and loose which annoys the crap out of me. I am used to pulling my front brake back halfway and having it stop and click. However that is not the case. I understand that I may not be able to achieve that kind of feel but I at least want to not have to pull it all the way in to get a full brake. I assume cable but not sure.

Finally the clutch. My clutch lever is the same as the brake, except worse. It's this stupid MSR clutch and perch, the cable adjuster is one of those quick adjust things and I only have to pull it in about 1/4" to 1/2" to fully engage. The rest is useless play. I don't know how to adjust the stupid cable because of the adjuster and until this gets fixed I can't play the clutch which means I can't race the quad very well. Anyways any help is appreciated. Thanks guys. Yamaha FTW.

hold the cable to throttle straight up and down and spray lube in it (WD etc) or get new throttle/cable if rusted or frayed, the clutch lever you spin adjuster out to tighten(pulls quiker) in to loosen or you can follow cable to were it hooks to tran and adjust. or get new lever that to you like.

try cable on clutch, and brake it sounds like you might have to just get a new lever. it depends on what it looks like. for all anyone knows, it could be the wrong lever in the first place.

as far as your throttle, there is a throttle return spring in the carb. you can get a lighter one off ebay, or some people have just modified the stocker. there is a throttle cable adjustment on the housing on the bars too.

I race my YFZ, and i was getting thumb pump really bad, i loosed the cable at the housing itself, and away my thumb pump went. so definitely check that.
