I would love to know why it seems that most of the shocks i look at buying used are all valved for people that are big guys!! I mean wow... i found a set that are valved for 290lbs. I have NEVER seen a set setup for people under 170lbs. Is it just me or are most riders out there big guys? I'm not saying fat... just big. I am 6'0 and used to weigh 147lb but i got Mono and lost a few pounds of muscle from not being able to workout. This was a really off topic thread, but its just kinda weird that it seems that most guys with suspension setup for MX are BIG guys.

You work out, are 6ft and only weigh 147?! Damn dude go eat some Mc Donalds. Most shocks seem to be setup for 150-220 pound riders. Maybe you are looking in the wrong places. Keep looking you will find them

i always noticed them right around 180, im glad im not the only fat arse at 290....i thought i was gonna have to run dual rear wheels :p, im 6' tall and when i raced, i was still pretty hefty at 240-260 now i suffer from too much truckin, not enough ridin ;)

ha ha its a gene pool thing... My dad was the same as me when he was a kid and my grandpa was a TALL and skinny guy also. My moms family is unknown because she was adopted. I am just a really toned skinny guy. I can outrun a-lot of my 160lb friends and i can actually almost lift as much.

I am 5'10" and I have the same problem being that I'm only 140 and 150 soaking wet and gear on but places that make shocks custom tend to have the lower weights pretty well dialed. The problem is that they cost more. I always found that buying aftermarket shocks that you like and having them re-valved comes to about the same price. :ermm:

No kidding I have some woman's chest protector sizing just to fit but the shocks I would check and call Works to see what they can do.

gear= boots, pants, jersey, gloves, chest protector, neck brace, goggles, helmet, under wear, etc that can weight at 40lbs and 180+40=220 so you have to include all gear into shock setups

I feel ya bro. 17, 6'3" and 153lbs without gear on. I eat like a starved horse and workout everyday, to top it off I take supplements to speed up the weight gain process. But they only do so much till you platou(sp?).
Anyways, when i bought my Elkas I got lucky and found them valved for a 165lb rider for MX.

I'm 5'10, 140-150 pounds depending on the time of the year. After swim season I'm 140, a few months later I get lazy and go back up to 150, but I honestly can not get above that to save my life.

I'm 5'9" and a varying weight of 180-190 lbs. I work out about 3-4 times a week.

WORKS?? :eek2:

PERSONALLY, GET SOME AIR SHOCKS AND YOU CAN SET THEM UP FOR YOUR WEIGHT IN MINUTES... JUST HAVE TO DO SOME R&D TO FIND WHAT YOU LIKE BEST.

I was going for cost effectiveness the fact that they have helped me find shocks for my weight and taylor their models for me. I realize there are better out there however.
