Anyone familiar with these? How complicated and how long of a job is this? Also where would be the best place to purchase this from?

Do a search dude. There are so many threads about this. But if you dont wana do one i belive JH racing sells the complete kit for the cheapest and he assembles the gears for you. And if you are able to do your own motor work it doesnt take long at all.

the hardest part of the whole thing is finding the plastic insert for kicker on rear plastics, you almost have to get new rear fender for it to look factory!

During kicking, the CDI requires a higher level of power than the stator can output to enable the CDI's operation- where there is no battery on the frame on the KICKER setup to continuously 'power' the CDI ....

To supply electrical power to the CDI on the KICKER setup during startup, a Condenser is used to store energy- similiar to a battery ability to store energy. The Condensers ability to store energy is extremely short lived compared to a battery. During engine opration, the Condenser will store the charge from the Regulator/Rectifier which is mounted on the rear subframe where the batteries location would be on the electric start version... The location of the Condenser is under the hood... The kick start Condencer costs about $25 from service honda...

You can either buy a new KICK start electric wiring harness, or you can splice the Condencer into the wiring, the later being the cheaper modification...

NOTE:These instructions are for removing electric start all together.... If you wont both ignore these instructions and ya just need parts

Look on ebay for someone parting out a motor. I just bought a whole transmission our of a 2004 450r with all the kickstart and idler gears, bolts, springs, everything needed for the kicker install on my 06 er for $50.
The only other thing i will have to buy is the kickstart lever and the right cover gasket and a seal for the kickstart shaft where it comes through the cover.

There is another one on ebay for $25 right now but it doesnt come with all the bolts and stuff but all gears are there! Theyre the expensive part!!

:D

:D NO!!!! you still need the spindle, return spring, 2 collars, you also need to reverse the gear on the 2 gear idle gear, also bearings... read page 2 or 3 on frequent asked questions look for scros response about which gears are different there is about 5 or 6 parts still needed about another 130 bucks

if your not running the lights then you wont need a condenser, there are many people running without changing the harness and condenser!!! I like having the kick and still have the easy button, so i still have the battery, actually i really have 2 batteries for 24v start and a kick backup,

I had to replace all the parts ( they were out of spec) and its been fine since. about 2 years, but the 24v start helps the clutch also
