Will the older 99-04 crank cases work with the 05 parts ...

I got a 05 ex that the clutch side crank case is cracked on it and have a set of older cases for the years without reverse. Wondering if they will work, do i have to mod anything. I was just thinking maybe take out the reverse and i could use the older cases. Has anyone done this before.

a person on this site i have seen used the cover but he had it drilled out and the seal installed.

other then that i dont know if u can just remove the shaft i have never heard of anybody doing that

Alright for anyone who trys this, it doesnt work. The shift drum doesnt fit into the older cases because of the smaller needle bearings. most likely have to find and or buy a older shift drum.
