ok well i was putting the ole 400 back together and i for some reason, though the head nuts took 68lbs of torque......well i did about 53lbs before i knew somethin was up.......i checked the torque specs a min ago and its only around 33lbs, ummmm what are my options? the nuts felt like they couldnt take anymore so im wondering if i already screwed the threads up or what. Should i take the nuts back off and check everything or just say screw it and leave it?

Loosen a little at a time in a criss-cross pattern. Re-tighten in the same manner to the proper torque. ;)

I'd check gaskets too. that's alot of un-needed force!

x2. also, you could of overstretched the head bolts. a couple of problems could arise from this. i would get new gaskets, head studs and nuts to be on the safe side.
