Finally finished my beater project AKA the wifes bike. I did it super low budget and it actually worked out quite well.
Its got the following NEW parts:
Crankshaft (hotrods)
Piston rings (oem)
valves (oem)
timing chain
all new internal bearings
all new gaskets and oil seals
cables
brake pads
mx bars
chain
battery
and rear tires

This was all done on a budget buying new parts on ebay mostly.
I only have $1100 into it including the price of the 400ex itself. Not bad considering its got some new tires, brakes and pretty much a brand new motor top and bottom. It runs like an absolute champ! Figure in a year or two ill drop another $1500 into it and get some suspension, a 426 kit, cam and new plastics for it, but as for now, this is how she sits...first pic is how the motor came with the quad when i got it lol...

Havent tried the new tires yet. Hoping to get out this weekend. To be honest with ya I dont even ride it, the wife does. I used to race quads back in the day but I switched to dirt bikes about 5 years ago and never looked back. If we make it out this weekend though ill steal it from her and throw down some laps and let you know how they are. Been a while sense ive ridden on 4 wheels, im on this site all the time though because I do all the work on her quad and a lot on other peoples quads at my shop.
