Does anyone know if a 06+ engine would fit into a 04-05 frame?

how would you put it in there? Through the intake? i dont think it would fit..

I think the mounts are a little different

+1 i think as long as you have the correct year mounts that match the engine, it should fit.....

it takes a lot of modification to do it.......... but you will change the frame mounts so much that it will only take the 06 and up ..not easy

Sorry I ment to put frame.. Lol

So I'm guessing no one has done this before? I found a sweet frame fresh coated frame for cheap.. but it's from a 04-05..

Bracey, would there have to be alot of welding involved?

im almost positve all you need is the motor mounts for the correct year and you will be good, but im not 100% sure. I know ive seen a topic about this before. Try searching or even look on trx450r dot org

everyone says it just goes right in with the mounts but in my experience it doesnt. I sold a 05 motor to a friend that was in a pinch to race the next day and i gave him all my mounts, they ended up having to notch the frame on the tubes that run by the footpeg(the triangle brace tubes) and couldnt run the bottom motor mount. You also need the harness and CDI off the 04-05 and then the oil cooler has to be figured out as well. It will fit but doesnt fit good

yes we have done it here and yes it will work ..........but it does require welding and mod. the mounts

Eastside 400 Im good friends with jo jo an at the end of the season I did all the work on his quad alot of guys for mx run the 06 carb n airbox on the 05s no difference an the only reason he had to notch his frame was it was bent use the 05 mounts an an 05 motor an it will go right it I want a 06 plus chassis with a 04 05 motor best set up out there
