So I have an LT250R with a rather built engine and I would like to make it even lighter than the 330lbs that it already is without sacrificing suspension and strength if not gaining these characteristics. I noticed the light frames and nice suspension on the LTR450 (06-11) or LTR400 (09 or better) and was curious to know how good or bad of an idea it would be to find one as a roller and add my 250 engine into it and fill the 250's engine-less frame with another 250 engine?

I'd say it's a great idea anything diffrent and anything fast has to be a great idea.

I'd like to see a quadzilla motor in an LTR chassis - that'd be sick...

There is a suzuki only forum where I saw a guy put a LT500 motor in his LTR450.

I would definitely go with the LTR450 not the LTZ400.

It would be a great ride, I would go for it. The only issue may be the pipe and that may need to be custom built, but otherwise I think it would be pretty easy since there should be lots of space in that frame.

I sat a 1989 LT250R engine in a bare LT-R450 frame once and put a long bolt through the pivot mount. It CAN be done with some mounting plates IMO. But the LT-R pivot bolt is bigger than the hole at the back of the LT250R engine.

Do you know where you saw this? I would love to check it out!

I don't remember exactly and I couldn't find it in a search, but I'm sure it's either:

or

thumpertalk or lt r 450 Hq

I can't say for sure.

It seems as though the LTZ400 makes a good frame. The 09 and up may be best choice.

To axellmusic19 - if you found an 05 or newer LTz400 in good shape and wanted to use it as a base/roller, I'd be pretty interested in the motor for a different hybrid.

Here's a build to check out.
