all depends if its just a bent shift fork, clutch or gears etc.. does it move or locked up. You can probably find used parts, some might had clutch or shifter problems but the ones around here seemed pretty trouble free.

Not sure what the price or overall condition for the one needing trans is but compare with other local ds650 running good. Around here you can pick one up for $1500 up to $3000 plus. I am guessing a good cond ds650 runs $2500 maybe less if someone is trying to sell. So trying to give you a comparision an estimate ok

Sounds like someone else will be doing the repairs?

Then its probably more labor cost than parts usually a minium of $400 to 500 to split cases an reassemble not including pulling motor etc... parts you will need gasket set $100 2nd gear $100 not including if other gears bad & you don't wanna run a new gear against a worn gear. or Complete used set of trans gears $200 then you probably need or wanna replace trans bearings $36 an while apart crank bearings $40 piston je $100 oem twice the $$

So labor best ask dealer or hopefully a good repair shop. Most motosport shops will do good work an cheaper on labor than some dealers. A private shop may give you a flat rate so checking valves an rest of motor not needed but if he does for another $100 then you know you what you got for a motor. Parts may be cheaper or more wrong also?

$600 labor est
$200 comp trans gears used or 2nd new
$36 needle bearings
$100 complete gasket kit
$40 crank bearings
$100 je piston
$ 25 oil an filter

Used motor $1000 to $1500
