By the end of this comming summer i should have.
(houser steering stemhouser a-arms, durablue axle, Pep Zps front shocks, braided brake lines, fullbore plastic, nacs graphics kit, shock covers) = about 2700

(powder coated frame, nacs misilaneus item, dougals ultimate billet front wheels, hinson brake pedal, pro design kill switch, power shifter, free flow gas cap, omf seat lock ac skid plate tm dip stick.) = 1200

What do you guys think should i change anything. I think its ok i might decide to change shocks when i find out the exact date it will take for them to get here. If it is over 2 months then screw that but the racing season is over so it might not be as long as usual. I will either get the 900 axis or the best elkas.

I wouldn't get the pep's because it takes a long time to get them and their customer service is terrible. I'm not saying it's a bad shock, because it's a great one. I'm am saying that you could get a shock of that quality w/ better service

I think im goona go with the elkas for the extra 5 bucks.

How much did it cost to have your rear shock converted? Did it make the rearend set alot lower? Thanks.

Well don't under estimate younger people of there abilities of paying stuff off. I am 15 years old and have a 2000 400ex worth alittle over 10,000 and buy the 2002 racing season after my winter rebuild I'll have another 1,500 into it. And I paid every dime that went into my machine, my parents didn't help me out one bit.

i paid for most of my stuff on my own but i work hard in the family business to get it all....

kabd69667 who did you order from?

If you order them from baldwin racing, the people there are nice and they really give good advice, and trust me, they know what they are talking about. They build Tim Farrs quad and build parts for just about every racer out there including the current GNC champion Jeramiah Jones.

It cost a total of 320 dollars including shipping there and back. I ordered fronts too so i'm just going to wait for those to get here before i put the rear shock on. It would prob sit a lot different though if i did just put the rear shock on.

400mxer-who did i order what from? shocks? I ordered my elka's from HSD racing and they converted my rear shock too. Baldwin Motorsports is the best PEP dealer around here. I'm not saying that the dealer you buy from has bad service i mean PEP's customer service is bad.

here is another idea.
stem, a-arms, elka front and rear ssd, brake lines, axle.=2840

fullbore, Graphics & seat cover, billet wheels powder coat frame, Ac skid plate. = 1200

Which one should i get the first on i posted or this one.

Would that conversion be as good as there rear shock. Should i just get the rear shock. How long did it take for them to convert it and how long is it taking to get the fronts

kabd69667

They say it's just as good. It takes them two weeks to do the rear shock. On the fronts, they said i should have them by Christmas

Dave400ex

Nacs, I would go with the Elka shocks. The rear conversion is a good price, and you won`t have to wait as long to get the front shocks.

Ok thats what im gettin front SSD and the rear conversion SSD.

What are you all going to get? Houser a-arms, Steering stem, Swingarm, Elka front shocks, Elka rear conversion, and Braided brake lines. That will be an awesome setup.

You don't need to get the best Elkas either. I got the ones that are only compression adjustable for 750. Mark at HSD told me that the ones that are rebound adjustable are very hard to adjust. I mean like to get it how you want it. Then elka's making an elite series one. Thye are just like the ones for 905 but their "titanium plated". They are over 1000 too

Foxrage

I know but i still want the SSD just cause i will have the cash if i end up coming short then i might get them.

No matter what kind of triple rates you get, they will have ssd. Even the ones for 500 or 550

kabd...

Did you get your rear shock converted by HSD in Canada? If so was that price of $320, U.S. or Canadian? Is that the Mac Daddy conversion? I saw a rear shock conversion by elka on "the quad shop.com's" site that they called the Mac Daddy Conversion and it was something like $285. Just thought I would ask.

It was 320 in us dollars w/ shipping there and back. I don't know if it's called the mac daddy. It might be but i'm not sure. They re-valve, re seal, re spring and convert to ssd

I believe Axis and tcs makes pretty good shocks, alot of the pros use them.:D

Dave400ex

Axis are the best shocks made and everybody knows that.

I was going to get axis but i decided to just get the Elka. i like being different though and know one has PEP so i wanted them but too long of wait. Not many ppl have elka so i am going to get them. I want to know from someone that has them how they like them.

Dave400ex
12-02-2001, 07:25 PM
Ask Gabe. I think he has them.

I have the fronts as mentioned in my signature. I love them. I go them set up for x-country racing and they soak up everything I throw at them. I do not jump much, but the little that I have done has been soaked up without a problem. I will have to say that I have not had or tried any other shock but these elkas awesome. I ride faster and harder. They instill confidence, so you can go faster and hit obstacles without worrying about being thrown off.

I give them a big thumbs up and am going to be goin with the elka mac daddy rear shock conversion here during the winter. I can't wait to hit my first harescrambles with the new setup.

actualy, i wouldnt base what kind of shocks im going to by on the amount of people that DONT have them,, alot of pros run pep, and some people run elka too, i just bought a set of pep triplerates, i bought them used and am goin to put them on my 400. the only reason i bought them is because i got them cheap and i will have a 250 with axis shocks on it in a little while,,,i should have the peps in a few days, and i will let you know my opinion if you like.

That would be great thanks. I like the elkas alot so i will probly just get the 900 dollar ones. with the rear conversion.

I have had my Elkas for about 6 months now and like them alot. Like Ray said, they perform great and instill confidence allowing you to push it that much harder. I go about 235lbs and I have the triple rates with SSD front and SSD rear. I have comp adjustment on front and rebound and comp on rear. Keep in mind that adjusting rebound is a pain and also takes away some of your shock's travel....JIM

HEY NACS, LET ME SEE YOUR BIKE, YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO CHANGE WHATS ON YOUR BIKE, CAN WE SEE A PIC

What he has on it is the same. He just changes what he`s going to buy alot. When your spending $900 on shocks it takes you a while to figure out what you want and you change your mind alot. I like Custom Axis, but won`t be able to get shocks until I get a job.
