looks like you whacked the cover a couple times before the real bad whack. that sucks though, always seems to go from bad to worse when you get in those situations

Wow why are you guys having so much trouble with these? I did my winter rebuild last year and it came right out of my 04. I have a extra clutch cover I can sell you. I do not have the gasket just the cover. Make me an offer.

well, in my case the guy I bought it from never replaced the swingarm pivot bearings, and never touched the bolt. so when I went to change it last week, it was seized.

This time I'm going to do the mod with the grease zerk and drill the holes in the bolt for easy maintenance

this is out of an 08 450ER. it is the 4 wheeler i cut in half to build the 3 wheeler. this 4 wheeler had no more than 20 hours on it and was never in bad mud. really not in any mud. i had to use an air hammer on it. this is why i tell people to take them out when they are new and grease them up. the factory don't put grease on the bolt.

When you get a new pivot bolt send it to Pappy for Molycoat then you won't have to worry about it anymore. I could push mine out with my fingers.

Yep they are a royal pain if not lubed right..I did finally get it out once i cooled my temper down i went to work with a cut off wheel...I tried all the spray stuff first to no avail, i tried PB , Liquid wrench , sea foam , but nothing budged that collar ..I would spray and let it soak for a couple hours then hit it.......Nothing......Repeat, this went on for a couple days...Some times there is no amount of spray that will loosen it because it can not get in between the bolt and the collar....Next time if i ever run into this again i am going straight for the cut off wheel..I was trying to save the bolt and in the long run cost more than just cutting it out...I would not have re used that bolt anyhow after seeing how it looked when i finally got it out, it had grooves in it............:ermm:

I have heard good things about the moly coat.....Of coarse in my mind i was thinking that sucks everyone's bolt getting stuck, mine will come right out no problem....:D

I bought my 04 new in January of 04, kept it two years and never pulled the pivot bolt out... Sold it to a friend in July of 06, he put a JB swinger on it in Oct and had to cut the bolt out... When I bought my 07, I made it a point to grease the pivot bolt every month.....

I spray my entire quad with penetrating fluid every time that I wash it! after EVERY ride,
I just did a motor rebuild and used an atv jack and some stands to take the pressure of the pivot bolt, I was able to push out the bolt with my brass punch without even hitting it once with a hammer, my point is proper maintenance will always payoff in the end result!!!
