i bent my fat bars today, note: do not buy tag bars! if i make a bushing for the clamps, could i use 7/8 bars? im a machinest and this would be no problem for me to make but would it work, i have a variety of different metals. has anybody ever done this? my only worry is that the bars could slip?

why not just spend the $60 and get a nice set of Pro Taper fat bars? then not have to worry about it, and you know you will always be fine in the back of your head.

that is understandable. i am 17, paid for 3/4's of my racing and all my parts this season.
do what you can. but if you save up and get a nice set of handlebars you will know you earned it and it will be fail proof.

i'm running my bars this way right now. I made a set of bushings from aluminum to match my bars and sawed them in two pieces and put them on. been that way for 6 months with no problems. I really like the bars i have and didn't want to buy another set when these were almost new..

It will work fine, just make sure the inner portion of the spacers mates up tight to the bars. You want the most surface possible grabbing.

Why can't you make new clamps, and not even mess with bushings?
