Would it be of interest, to any of you 250R owners, that in AMA/ATVA Extreme Dirt Track (TT) racing, that the cc limit in those new classes we offered for 2010 season,
Pro Lite, 265cc/ 450cc
265cc/450cc A,B or C class rider,
the cc limit for the 2 stroke has been raised from 265cc to 306cc max.

SO, now you riders that have those 310 cylinder 250Rs sitting with no where to race them.
WE DO, now AT, AMA/ATVA Extreme Dirt Track offer you a class to run in.

I guess I'm a newb, but I have a hard time keeping track of all of the acronyms for race series. I couldn't tell you what series the pro's even run in. Does the 306cc rule apply to all?

AMA
ATVA
WPSA
WORCS
BITD
GNC
GNCC
MTGP
TT
SCORE
TQRA
NEATV
Quadcross

Sweet I'm glad they bumped up the discplacement to 306, it was 302, but I think that caused a problem with the 310's at the last bore or something.. it was discussed on the other site.

Time to build a 300 PV Nat'l Motor...

EDIT: This article helps, http://www.atvriders.com/articles/atv-racing-2009-how-to-get-started-racing.html

this is only for the ama/atva extreme dirt track series.

ie: just the ama sanctioned flattrack and tt series, NOT the mx or xc series.

yea, I just noticed that, and there are no AMA sanctioned events within 500 miles of me, so I guess that means I can pretty much run whatever cc's I want too: Here are the classifications for my area events:

Note: I'd like to run in the Vet 30+ class, so does that mean I can run 400cc 2 stroke if I wanted? just curious, I don't want to build a bike that I can't ride... :)

BIKE CLASSIFICATION CKMS SERIES
All classes are modified but these are maximum cc. you can have for these classes.
Pee Wee 0-50cc 2 stroke / 70cc 4 - stroke
65 51-65cc 2 stroke / 110cc 4 stroke
85 66-85cc 2 stroke / 150cc 4 stroke
250 86cc-250cc 2 stroke / 250cc 4 stroke
450 126cc-250cc 2 stroke / 450cc 4 stroke
Schoolboy 80cc-125cc 2 stroke / 250cc 4 stroke
All Vet Classes 125cc and up

Sounds like the same rules apply around here too, well that changes my whole build "theory"... again... haha... I thought AMA sanctioned the events in my area too... guess not... Ah, those poor 4 strokes... Its not even fair is it.. :D

if it's a "district" event it falls under ama/atva guidlines. vet/senior classes usually have no size limit's under ama guidlines.

outlaw or fairgrounds type of events are up to the organizer of the event.

NEATV (New England ATV) series is not "AMA District" and the good news...

The series will allow (for 99% of classes) the same engine size for 2 stroke and 4 strokes.

So...the 450cc class...you can run up to a 450cc 2 stroke.

If the AMA allowed this same rule to mx and xc racing how long before Can-AM would bring out their e-tec in the ds450 frame. This could help in bringing 2 strokes back to the market.

It might be a pipe dream but I would love to see this.

Ok, see if I can clear this up.

The cc change is for only the AMA sanctioned, ATVA Extreme Dirt Track series type of atv racing. AMA Extreme Dirt Track, a few years ago was called AMA/Grand National TT Championship series.

TT racing, for those that dont know what it is, we race on flat smooth surface tracks with left & right hand turns, low rolling jumps, not lippie like mx jumps. Most of the tracks we compete on, are built within oval dirt car tracks & we have some that are special built TT tracks that only run TT events. We do sometimes hold events at indoor facilities.
It is all about high speed & power sliding around the corners.
We use slick flat tread tires, Hoosier or American Racer type.

Troy,
The cc change is only in the Pro Lite class & 265/450 A,B or C level of riders. Those four classes are now, 306cc 2 stroke 450cc 4 stroke max cc engine
Youth Production 14/15 year old, School Boy & School Boy Senior are not included in the cc change.

All age classes, 16/24, 25+,30+,40+ are all open engine size, but must be a motorcycle or atv based type of engine.

To clear it up even better, we have a site, http://www.edtracing.com that everything like classes, rules & such are listed on.

Yeah, I misread it! After reading this post I was excited to FINALLY get some displacement help with racing the 4-pokes.

I just don't see how a 265 can keep up with a 450 on a mx track, especially if you do minor mods to the 4-poke. Too many corners on an mx track for that bottom end grunt to help the lazy 4-poke rider! Not to mention the higher skill set and timing you need to keep the 2-stroke wound up for rythm sections. I tried, believe me I tried!
