Without a doubt Earnhardt was the man. Since his passing I'm primarily a Jr. fan followed by anyone in the DEI or RCR (except for Robbie Gordon) camps. I do like Stewart (especially now that he's switched to Chevrolet). I also like Gordon and Johnson.

Cant wait till the 500,,, I sure think Dale Jr will win,,, but for some reason ,, I have a weird feeling that Rusty Wallace is going to be VERY strong,,, what do you all think...

My #3 flag is on the wall behind me. It's also on my hat, shirt, and truck. I've been to Kannapolis, was there for the Grand Opening of the Garage-mah-hall (the new DEI shop), and signed my name on the hauler. I have always been and will always be a fan of Dale Earnhardt. I just wish I had the 90-95 seasons on tape.

But since 2/18/01 I've kept and eye on Jr and Harvick. It's nice to see Michael Waltrip up front too. I've always kinda liked Park, but he hasn't been the same since Earnhardt died. Most of the others I'm pretty indifferent about, don't care too much one way or the other, except Gordon (and I don't mean Robbie). I have always hated that pin headed little pr!ck and I always will.

And there are some that should just be banned from the sport because they can't drive, like anybody with the name Bodine, Shawn Robinson, and the few others that are a guaranteed caution every week.

Awwww that sucks big time. As much as I hate that rainbow flag driving SOB, I was post number 24 in this thread. Somebody go back and delete one.

02-11-2003, 05:35 PM
Scott, I'm really surprised that Childress has kept Robbie Gordon around as long as he has. He doesn't win and he's had numerous run-ins with several other drivers including Jr. You listen to some of the drivers and very few have anything really good to say about him.

Scott
02-11-2003, 05:38 PM
Yeah, I think he's a hot head. He wants everyone's respect but doesn't want to wait and earn it. I've been hoping he'd go back to road racing, or off road racing, or go-carts...

I was surprised that Childress signed him in the first place, and really surprised that he has kept him this long.

Kool i seen that thing what ever happend to it?

Scott
02-11-2003, 06:03 PM
Last I heard, the hauler and the suveneer (sp?) trucks were all at DEI. I'm waiting to see if there's a suvenier truck at the tracks this year. We go to a different track every year, this year we'll be going to Richmond for the May race. So far we've been to Bristol, Charlotte, Martinsville, Chicagoland, Darlington, and my wife also went to Michigan and Indy last year without me. This year I think I should get to go to a couple without her!

my wife also went to Michigan and Indy last year without me.

I hope you where riding or racing:confused:

Scott
02-11-2003, 06:17 PM
Nah, actually I didn't want to go to either race. Michigan was Fathers day so I spent my first fathers day with my son watching it on TV, and I didn't want to go watch the race at Indy either. Big boring track to try to watch a race at. I'd like to see Indy dropped from the schedule completely. I'm tired of watching the cars go into the wall rear end or drivers side first. Someone is going to get hurt, and it's not much of a race to start with. Take that date and switch it to another race at Bristol!

Knight440
02-11-2003, 06:22 PM
ok that all sounds like you did the right thing

Scott
02-11-2003, 06:30 PM
And while I'm busy fixing NASCAR, throw the restrictor plates in the trash, forget the "hard rubber" tires from Goodyear that will run 200 miles without wearing out, get rid of the stupid 12 gallon fuel tanks for Daytona (and Talledega this year?), knock the rear spoilers down to about 35 degrees, let the driver choose the shocks and springs he wants to run, eliminate Pocono, quit making all the new tracks from the same 1.5 mile tri-oval cookie cutter and start making some more short tracks again. Short tracks are better racing anyway.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of watching a race waiting to see when 20 cars are going to get wiped out in "the big one". The best car doesn't win, the best cars out of who's left wins.

Go back to letting the best driver with the best car setup win the races and championship. But that's my opinion.

THE MAN

Scott
02-11-2003, 06:41 PM
Everybody's got their fav when it comes to drivers, but in here you'll probably find out that "The Man" died in 2001 and drove a black Monte Carlo with a big 3 on the side of it. Rusty knew him, he followed Dale around for years on the track. That was how Rusty knew where he was going! j/k:D

My favorite driver is #20 Stewart. My favorite track is definately Bristol. I have been there 3 times and all 3 were great. We have 4 tickets for each Bristol race(Spring Busch and WC, and Fall Busch and WC). Our seats are terrace seats right in the middle of the front straight about 10-15 rows from the top.

02-11-2003, 07:21 PM
nascar is like watching paint dry except paint drys quicker than a nascar ends

Scott
02-11-2003, 07:27 PM
free_rider20: Congrats. I'd love to have those tickets. I think there's a law against bad racing at Bristol.

freeride132: To each his own. I think 750hp engines turning 9000rpms for 500 miles is a pretty impressive feat in its self. That's import tuner RPM land with american V8s.

02-11-2003, 07:28 PM
sorry quys but i have to agree with freeride123.

If superspeedways where shorter, say 150 laps I would watch them. As long as most of them are there are not enough drivers on the lead lap in the end to make the race interesting. About half, 3/4 of the way through its not "anyones" race anymore and thats about that time I change the channel. I love to watch bristol cause the racing is intense the whole way.

Rusty is diffinatly gonna be a major contender next year, not that he isn't every year though:p

I would definately like to see more short track races, mostly Bristol, at the big tracks, I usually go and ride in the middle of them, and then come back and watch the end. But for Bristol, I am glued to the TV because something is always happening. Same with Richmond. They need to get rid of the road courses, them are pretty boring, and the Loudon race. Also, ditch the restrictor plates!!

Nascar sucks only to the people who arent smart enough to understand what it takes to make a car go around a corner at 190 and run full throttle at 8000 RPM's for 2 and a half hours...
