i had a trans go out on me over a weekend and it was a holiday about 900 miles from home .........so i called my wife and had her bring me my 7.3 excursion out and bring tow bar chains straps ........so when she got thier we hooked it up and tow a 12500 lbs rv and a 8000 lbs trailer 900 miles back home and only got pulled over 1 time hows that for the 7.3 power

Did it take you over 2 years to make it home? cuz those pics were taken in 08' lol.

the cop said what are you doing .........i told him that i was just pulling it of the highway he said i cant let you do this .....so i just unhooked the trailer drove down the highway a little bit unhooked the rv came back and grabed the trailer hooked everything back up and off i went again

I bet you my quad it did much better than that.


Its a diesel, they get good mpg towing even heavy loads like that. Probably 12mpg or so.

Hehe that would be about right for a Ford. lol just givin you shat. 7.3's are good but I'm not too fond of the 6.0 and the 6.4

i never was a ford man but i needed something big and had a lot of power and a heavy chassis to pull a big toy hauler ......... but i know this iam glad i bought this excursion it saved me on this trip

It def saved you some cash, has anybody ever had an rv towed that had a trailer attached before...good lord it costs a ton of $!!

I'll play the devils advocate here, why not just get it fixed where you were? Would have saved your wife a 4 day 1800 mile trip, probably 7-800 in diesel/hotel/mcdonalds., and now that you are home, you still have a transmission problem. Either way cool pictures, i'm sure that was a journey.

Either way cool pictures, i'm sure that was a journey. it was a holiday weekend and when your from out of town you at the mercy of the local shops it would have cost more to fix it then it was worth ............back home i have a local shop that i trust ...........and as far as fuel the motor home only got 6 mpg the excursion got 17mpg comming out and 10mpg towing ..........and who needs a hotel when you have a rv........... and i had a whole rv full of food ..........dollar for dollar cheepest and smartest way out
