why would u take a new nice handling top of the line quads and make it a death trap? i owned a lot of atv's over the years and an old atc250r was the worst p.o.s ever! just my 2 cents..

This ain't no ATC:p I sold one of my old bent frames to Black Sheep. It's some cool ingenuity.

lol, i have many years on 3 wheelers and 10 years on 4 wheelers. i know them both very well. for me the 3 wheeler is more fun than a 4 wheeler by far. here is a video from my 3 wheeler days in the 90s. the end has a couple of my 4 wheeler freestyle practice pictures.

It is def diff for sure. Hey it is your time, your money.. Ultimately your going to do what you want.. I think it is neat.. No diff then guys taking brand new cars-trucks ect and cutting them up, modding the hell out of them... Sweet vid btw, good jam :D

^^ right if it makes you happy then all the power to you..it is unique and some cool engineering goes into those kits! its kind of cool except the 450's are so expensive new it would make me nervous cutting a brand new bike up lol

this bake had what i feel was less than 20 hours on it. we got it used from a guy hurting for money and only paid $3000 for it. (yes, we got a title. lol) the left overs will be the front end, complete head with cover cam and cam holder, radiator, swingarm, carburetor, tank, chain and other stuff. with the low hours i think i could get around $1100 for the rest of the parts. if i get that out of the parts it will puts us at $1900. but also will have $1600 in the CRF parts that are needed and the $2500 TPC kit. after all said and done we should have it done with the Lonestar swingarm and axle and other aftermarket parts for less than $8000. would be much cheeper if we didn't keep adding more aftermarket parts and keep it stock.

I think it is cool also. Have actually thought about converting one of my 450R's, but they are 04/05's, so I would have to buy a 06 or newer, just a little more expense. Never owned an orginal 250R three wheeler, but I have ridden a few over the years. Not something I would ride every weekend, but I think it would be a fun every now and then toy. Might just have to check Craigslist for a 06 450R......

ATC's...The original atv. Don't forget that.

The TPC trikes are not ATC's....Those are the new generation.

Great stuff, keep up the great work.

Those trikes are siiiiiiik! I think anyone who can ride a three wheeler is some kind of super hero. I rode one for about 1/4 mile before I turned around and said "NO EFFIN' WAY".What an awesome project. Do you have to give TPC half your frame for a down payment or is it a core? Or is it a do it yourself kit?:)

you send them your back half as a core and he will send you whatever you want. i am going with the basic kit. that is the frame, axle for the front, wheel hub for the front, triples, and a couple other parts. i like both quads and trikes but if i have a choice i will take a 3 wheeler any day. the only reason i ever had a 4 wheeler was to race MX. i was on 4 wheels for 10 years (2000 to 2010) i have had 21 years on 3 wheels.

12-22-2010, 10:28 AM
you should just switch to 2 wheels.

up till the end of 1999 i was on a 350X. then went to a 400EX till the end of 2009. TPC Trikes contacted me a little over a year ago and ask if i would want to race there TPC450 for the 2010 MX race season in north east Ohio. i only went to 4 wheelers so i could race MX so it was an easy decision to say yes. i had 4 wins 2 seconds and a sixth for the year. now i am doing freestyle for TPC Trikes for the next year. the one i am building now is for my cousin.

lol, yes it was 5 wins. it was an easy decision to race but i didn't know because of the wife, AKA boss. she is not much into the racing so i had to talk it over with her. not to mention the closest race was 6 hours away.

That is so cool, I just bought a new 08 450r, if you can believe it I will be riding a quad for the first time at Galmis next week. I have been riding my 86 ATC250R since it was new, Love three wheelers, I am making the switch only because the new 4 strokes are just so much faster than the 2 strokes

As far as im concerned you did that trx justice by cutting it up. thats the only way to own a 450 lol. Im going to have to come to one of the races im dying to see one of these in person. I really want one but just dont see it happening maybe someday i will have the funds. not to hijack but do they have classes in that race schedule for stock atcs. I wouldnt mind racing but there is no way my r or x could run with those machines.

jensenracing77

got the frame back today. it is red powder coat with clear powder over the top of it. the swingarm is silver with a clear over it. now to sand off the powder coat from places it don't belong and tap some of the holes. i do not like powder coat between the foot pegs and the frame or the motor mounts and the frame. i may have to live with the powder coat between the motor mount brackets and the frame. it will be very hard to do that and not mess up. when you don't take off the powdercoat from the engine brackets you need to recheck the torque on the engine mounts now and then.

i started assembling parts today. i was scared i would scratch something putting the engine in but it went well. i am obsessed with not having electrical issues so most of my time today was with that. some of the wiring is not needed for the TPC so i took that stuff out and wired around a couple of the safety features that the TRX had.

What are you hiding?

Black Sheep
01-30-2011, 09:22 PM
There are a lot of custom builders in the 3wheelerworld that have been trying to copy the TPC 450 for years. No need to help them. :blah:

Baileygunns
01-30-2011, 09:39 PM
I get it... But if they were trying to copy, why would they search the forums to find pics of what you do and not just buy a kit and recreate it?

Unless you this is something new and "top secret" that isn't available to everyone... lets see it....

Those of us that admire what you do are interested... Those that want to “copy” what you’re doing, probably already have... JMO no disrespect.

i got more done today. it looks almost done but i have many hours left on this build. i will have some of it apart again before it is done. i am to picky with my builds. i have over 3 hours in just running the brake light wire from the foot brake to the battery area. i ran it about 10 differant ways and THINK i am happy with it now. good thing for him i am not charging labor for this build. he did say he may give me his 350X parts bike for my time.

get one from the trx90 they have a longer thumb throttle and have the same look as the 300/400ex and the older ones have honda on them....My favorite of all thumb throttles!!!!

i have leftovers for sale. i have had more PMs than i can count wanting parts. i can get $900 for these parts from the PMs i have had but don't have time to part it and box everything up. i will start off by trying to sell these parts as a group. these parts have around 20 hours on them. i am asking $900 for these parts and for pick up only. if i don't get $900 for them i will part this stuff out later and will ship parts anywhere but for now i will try like this. i will be gone from this Wednesday till Monday so you may not get a response till i get home.

Hows it handle with the newer suspension and bigger/heavier engine?
