I changed to a 14t and it did not seems to lose that much top end, it seems to pull alot harder down low

For me, I like the 15 better, and recently replaced the 14 with the stock 15

The 14 will be better for the woods where u rarely ever get wide open

But on the beach I'd stick with 15 tooth front

I got the 14 tooth up front too, and also do not think it shaved off much on the top end. It is well worth the trade-off. Loose a couple mph on the top-end gain a little on the take off.

Maybe it is just me, but I think the 14 pushs paddle tires better.

a 14th is a must if you have 22" tires.woods riding you will be more than happy with it.Especially on hills.Unless you ride dunes or drag i really dont see why people want all the top end.You hardly ever gonna hit 5th gear in the woods much less wind it out.

I like my 15 better than the 14. But when I race up the steep dunes I win. I go all the way up in third, while they have to shift down to second.

so ok i think i would be happy with a 14t, since i ride the woods...and when i say beach i really mean like sandbars and stuff on the river right here by my house...but n e ways what about the duncan fat boy 4??? does it offer good power gains?? and what about the sound??is it loud??

thanx ,

When you go from the stock 15t to a 14t, do you have to take any links out of the chain? I ride in the woods all the time and think a 14t would be better.

I didn't have to take any links out of the chain. Just tighten her up a little. The whole process takes about 15 minutes.

I rode with a 14 tooth for a while. It was great in tight woods and hills. When i rode in woods with open fire roads i was looking for another gear. Topped out to quick. I am going back to a 15 tooth and a 39 tooth in the rear. It should be a good inbetween gearing. With a 14 tooth it seemed i went through the gears to fast. It was great for long hill climbs
