Changing shock length

Anybody know if it's easier/cheaper to lengthen a shock or shorten a shock?

If I need 19" shocks would it be easier cheaper to buy a 18.5" or a 20"?

It's always easier to shorten the shocks, but you loose the 1" of travel!

unless they are elkas and you cut the body but yes it is easier to shorten a shock unless you get lucky and they are peps with internal travel limiters

make sure you pay attention what the compressed length needs to be also when doing this.
