I went to replace my front wheel bearings today on my 88, and noticed i only had a collar on the outer bearing side. Is there suppose to be a collar on the inner side of the hub? Thanks

no, not on a 88. 89's had a collar on the outside and between the 2 bearings. 88 and 89 front hubs are identical except for the tapered spacer and tapered spindle on the 89.

Well after i replaced the bearings and put the wheel back on, there were still some play when you moved the tire back and forth. Is it possible the inside of the hub is wallowed out? The inner bearing pretty much fell into place without pressing it in.

I think its an 88???

the bearings shouldn't drop right in, replace the hub. they should be a press fit.

Is 400EX or 450R hubs the same as the 250R?

yes the hubs wear out, but you can also put some lapping compound in there. I think its what it is. something my dad suggested, they use it in industrial applications where bearings get a little loose and it tightens the clearance back up.

400ex hubs are almost the same. they use a larger diameter bolt for the rotors, so you will need 400ex rotors and bolts.
