What are you guys running and how do you like it? Stock, Terry Cable, Motion Pro Cables, TRX90 arm, etc. I love thumb throttle but mine is starting to wear on my thumb so I am wondering if I need to lube the cable or if I should look into a longer arm or a new throttle.

Motion Pro Makes a clutch cable for the 400ex that is too long.

Trx 90 lever and stock cable work good for me.

90 lever is about 3/8 longer. Better leverage

trx250r thumb throttle. it has a different stlye linkage than the 400ex and makes for a good feel.

I just want a "lighter" thumb throttle, one that doesn't take such a toll on my hand during long rides.

Hmm I like my stock lever, along with the 450 carb. I guess I have meaty thumbs.. LOL

Rotate the throttle downward a bit, you may have it set to high.

If you tried my throttle vs a few others in my local riding group you would be shocked-it has much resistance the any other I have tried.

Stock all around. I dont understand why its so tough to push it but it is. I thought the cable might be it, might replace sooner than later just to see.

I actually have a motion pro cable on mine and have had no problems. Best bet is to replace the cable. There is an inner nylon lining on the cables and when they get old and dried out they gunk up on the inside and get tough to pull. More often they rust from the inside out. Start with a cable and lube all your linkages. I use white lithium grease in an aerosol can for inside the throttle controls up top.

Actually yes i have... never had a problem but it might just be me. I am been riding my EX for years everyday so i might just be used to it. I race MX for heavens sake, how hard the thumb throttle is to push is the least of my worries. lol
