here's my 2001 Toyota Tundra V8, I got to drive it off the lot on August 1, 2001, other than buying my quad it was one of the best days of my life. Its a great truck, so far Ive pretty much kept it stock (save money for my quad) but I have done something to the sound system.... i have 2 audiobahns, a legacy red series 2 800 w amp, and i replaced all the stock speakers and i put tweeters in and a legacy bass boost. It hits pretty hard. I really want to buy an old International Scout next and put a lot of lift on it :D

Im gonna put a set of duals on it when I have time and eventually a cd player and some new speakers will be purchased. I would take a leaf out of the back suspension, but I have to pull stuff and I dont need my rear end tore off when I go over a bump.

Hummer is a Hummer, Not exactly, a H2 is basicly a chevy Suburban with a different body. But if i had the money, an H2 is what i would get.

02-10-2003, 06:55 PM
The H1 are literlly bulletproof , but you got to give the H2 credit. i mean they did a **** of a design for how much a H2 cost. Why don't you look at a H1 cost and then look at a H2 cost, there ya go. I like the new h2 disigns personally , i think they did a good job. Maybe the h2 is not as bulletproof as a H1 , but they still have a soul of the Hummer.

H2 are nothing like tohoes. I mean they might have the same chasis , but that is it! H2's have all the same 4-wheel drive macanics that the H1 has , and they have all the skidsplates , the whole deal. I don't see to many tohoes that have air ride suspension , 1/2 inch skidplates on the bottom , 4-wheel drive all the time , and a balance system for off roading. One more thing , i don't see a stock tohoe going threw 22 inches of water either. I am pretty sure ALOT of people would agree that h2's are nothing like tohoes. Hate to say it but comparing a Hummer to a Tohoe , that insults hummers.

Talk about go anywere lol i hade some pics of humers up ot the windows in mud and they were climbing out of the mud hole lol. i wish i had the money a while back casue i got the offer to buy a hummer 1 frame, motor, and body, trans, all in boxes all it needes were the bolts and the creature comforts lol and it would be ready to go all for 12 grand. i wish i had the money casue for a price fo 20 grand i could have had a hummer that would get me around and then just slowly finish it off lol

the hummer h2's have a balancing system to them so when you have weight down in the back, air compressors will kick in and raise the back up to balance the truck out. When you get stuck you can also raise the h2 up to 2 inches i think to try to get yourself unstuck, you can also lower the tire pressure while your inside of the hummer, to raise it then since you have a built in air compressor you just simply get out and pump your tires back up to pressure, they are very sweet

Striker49- I like your truck looks nice. Are those rims american racing ar-39's?? I was just wondering cause i am gonna get some for my truck and i just wanted to know how you liked them. Are they easy to keep clean or do they seem like they are dirty all the time?
Oh yeah if you are gonna get duals get flowmaster 40 series muffler cause they sound nice. I have catback duals on my truck with a 40 series delta flow muffler, its only a v6 but it sounds deep and has a wicked rumble to it i would deffinately reccomend one.

Heres a pic of my truck- 95 S-10 ZR2 4.3 v6 and some mods are listed in my sig. soon to come is some new rims.

It shares most of its parts with a suburban not a tahoe. It shares the front frame section, rear frame section, front suspension, rear suspension, brakes, engine, and transimission. The only unique parts are the middle frame section and the transfer case.

Ok facts if you insist, Heres some direct quotes from GM spokespersons and automotive industry review:

1.--The chassis is a three-piece, fully welded, boxed ladder-type frame with hydroformed components in a number of locations to maximize strength while limiting weight. A lot of the cost reduction came from sharing chassis and drivetrain components from current GM trucks.

"We share chassis and steering components with the heavy-duty 2500-Series Suburban and the 1500 Suburban," says Charlie Martin, the vehicle systems engineer for the Hummer H2 chassis and drivetrain. Among the shared and/or modified items from the 2500 Suburban are the H2's front third of the frame, the steering system and basic brake system. The rear third of the H2's frame was adapted from the 1500 Suburban. All new components include the H2's center frame as well as the flat crossmembers that are used around the transmission mounting area.

2.--The H2 is the first fruit of a December 1999 agreement in which GM bought the rights to the Hummer name. It will be built in a new AM General plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, to a design cribbed from the H1 but engineered primarily by GM on a Tahoe/Suburban platform to keep costs down.

The team started with a Suburban frame, chopped 7.2 inches out of its midsection to fit a 122.8-inch wheelbase, and bobbed its overhangs to suit the H2's 189.8-inch overall length (nine inches shorter than a Tahoe). The front control-arm and torsion-bar suspension is from a 2500-series Suburban. The 2000 H2 show car's independent rear suspension was ditched for the Suburban's live-axle, coil-spring, five-link setup. It's all retuned for off-road flexibility, using new monotube shocks at all corners.

3.--The H2 is based on the GMT820 platform, the very same platform that provides the underpinnings for the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Avalanche and all of GM’s other full-size trucks. However, the H2 is much more than just a re-bodied Tahoe. The H2 does share the previously mentioned vehicles suspension and 6.0-liter V8. The H2 is built with the serious off-roader in mind, but the GMT820 platform should insure civilized on-road manners in addition to its off-road abilities. The H2’s 6.0-liter V8 is good for 316 hp and 360 lb ft of torque. The V8 is mated to a heavy duty GM 4L65-E four-speed electronic automatic transmission, with a 3.06 first gear ratio.

97' F150 , mods are..... Tinted windows all around, bed cover, 7 color instrument cluster, custom sub box w/ 2 10" He2, powered by 2 Fosgate 400 watt amps.

Only other mods I'm gonna do is, slightly bigger BFGoodrich All Terrains, and some hood scoops I got but still have to paint and put on.

250exer
02-11-2003, 05:59 PM
Whatever the details of shared or unique components, IMO the H1 is for serious off-roaders and the H2 is for people that want to look like serious off-roaders. The H2 fully retains the ugly looks of the H1 however.

They are 15" Ultras... I think. They are bout ughh... I cant remember how old. My dad had the truck before I did and he put the rims on there. They are nice though. They dont stay clean all the time, but they dont look filthy after a few days either. Kinda a so-so in the cleanliness department.

And thx for the tip on the exhaust. Me and one of my buddies are goin sometime to get a set put on. :)
