X-Ring or O-Ring chain???

I just went and bought me a Primary 520 O-Ring chain last night. But i saw the Primary X-Ring chain for $10 more. Whats so special about it. I was gonna get it but i didn't know enough about it so i just stuck with the old O-Ring chain... So can yall just give me some info about it...

X ring has a flat profile to the O-ring, which gives it a greater contact area, thus it stays cleaner (grit is death to chains) and lasts longer than the other types of chain. the X ring will have two sealing points as compared to the one on the O ring. steve

depends where and how much you ride as long as you clean and lubricate ur o-ring chain regulary it will last a while

i have always had good luck with my xrings. they have lasted longer than my stock oring i had. steve

my friend got the primary drive x ring and its been great chain but the o ring is good too. The primary drive chains are super tough and dont stretch much at all.

primary drive chains suck. They break the pins. I read atleast 5 stories of those chains that broke at the pins. I didn't believe them. I had it happen to me, some months later. I went back to a did x-ring chain, I had a primary drive gold x-ring chain.

Anyone use the pro taper x-ring? I just ordered one over a D.I.D x-ring (because they it was like $60 cheaper), just hoping it doesn't suck @ss and blow apart on the first hill climb or worse, last lap.

Same thing happend to me broke the chain not after 3-4 hours of use, went and bought a regina i think it was and laster me almost a year

I ride a 300ex so its not like im gonna be puting alot of torq on it causing it to break or anything.

But i just went ahead with the O-Ring chain so yea

ive just had supiriour luck with DID ATV X RING. They last for ever, stretch very little and are strong as chit for the price

I have had pitifull luck with x-rings. 2 chains 2 bikes 2 holes rubbed in the cases cuz the chain is wide. make sure your sprocket keeps chain away from case!!

I've seen issues like that, but only when converting chain types.

If your bike came stock with a non o-ring chain, all the clearances around the sprocket, cases, chain guides and guards, and all that stuff is going to be designed around a standard chain. You might run into a problem converting to an 0-ring chain because those rings need space. You can't just make the links narrower, because they still need to fit over the teeth on the sprocket, so the only direction to go is outward.

O-ring chains and X-ring chains are wider than standard chains. You need to inspect all your clearances when switching from one type of chain to another.

this is a classic case of you get what you pay for. pay for the DID x-ring, take care of it and it will save you money in the long run. that is the only chain we buy anymore.

As long as you keep your chain clean and lubed, it will last. We get over 100 hrs out of our Regina non o-ring heavy duty chains. Switched to Renthal this year with sponsors but they seem to be built just as well. No rubber= less HP loss :macho :macho
