97 explorer 87000 miles on it. 4 L pushrod crap motor though. wish it had a V8 in it. steve

my parents have a 96 identical to your 97 with a 4.0 they're saving for me for when i can drive:D

its not a bad ride. does great in the snow thats for sure. gets around 18-20 mpg most of the time but stuggles to pull my 3 place trailer with 2 sleds on it at anything over 65 mph. lol otherwise it does a good job pulling on flats lol. i dont use it to pull unless i take the snowmobiles to school in the winter. my dad uses the truck to plow so i cant have it at school for a month or so at a time. otherwise i use that to pull anything around instead of the explorer. this is just my winter ride so it doesnt see much use either lol. my sunfire usually pounds the pavement.

the explorer has a 3" shackle lift in the back with 1.5" torsion crank in the front. that gave about 2" total in the back since it was about 1" low when i got it. it has since leveled to sit just a bit high in the back as i like them to be. it has had tie rods put in it, bearings, and a sway bar link at the same time. I broke the link but the rest were just wear parts that i figured i would change since i had it in anyway.
