Really need to find out if this is going to be legal for nationals? I've been told both ways yes it is , no it's not. By atva rules I see no reason it wouldn't be legal.

The most qualified person to answer this may be Rich @ Hetrick, he has been closely involved with the rules in the youth classes( for years) and he is an Apex dealer, maybe he will respond to this post , but you may have to ask him in his section for a quicker answer.

'09 to current Apex 50's are 100% legal in the 50 limited class as long as it is the 41" wide model. I ran one the last 2 years at ATVA nationals in the Limited class.

The atva national rules may be different than some of the districts .
The 010 Apex 50 cc is to wide, National rules state you cannot change the stock width with wheels so they are not really legal.
Are they going to tell you to go home you cant race?No they are not .

Huh, I have worked on 2 2010 50's over the season and they were 41" wide, just like the '09.
Ya just have to be sure that your dealer tells Apex that you need the 41" model.

sorry Brandon they are NOT 41 they are over 41 if you play the grey area that you usually do they are then 41.6 wide
and that means it is still not legal

Hey, I'm not here to argue,I had to adust the ball joints to get them under 41", it really is all how they are put together, I think I was able to get it to 39.5 with them turned all the way in. My own Apex is at 40.75" with over a quarter inch of thread showing.

Ok they are legal! I have been talking to AMA all last week and the only thing that was in question at the end was the width. My sons apex is 41 wide also, yes I had to adjust ball joint too, but it is 41 wide. I even made a wheel frame to check it often. You might have to adjust front ball joints, but they will make the 41 inch requirements.

fastflame wait about 2 weeks and give me a call they are trying to get the APEX legal.
I cannot say it any other way other than right now the APEX 50 is not legal.
I am not the AMA I do not work for the AMA but I ask the proper questions to get the correct answers, not always does that happen.Although I just spoke to the Ref.again.

No matter what anyone says or has posted again it is not legal

The way it was put to me was like this,
the quad out of the box is wider than 41 yes you can modify the a-arms meaning adjust the ball joints but that is one thing the rules state you are not permitted to do (in their terms adjust the width suspension or a-arms)

I am not trying to upset anyone the question was brought to me and I took it to the AMA.

Again I do not work for the AMA

It may not seem so because I am not telling you what you want to hear, but this is what I was told...

Just spoke with the ref. as long as the quads are 41 they are legal for 2011.
The rule will not be changed.
