My son has broken the shift shaft return ancor boss in the case twice now, and it broke during a national race that cost us the championship. I have came up with ultimate preventive solution. The only way to fix after it breaks is to replace the engine cases, that were on national back order all summer.
please see the pictures of the damage that can and will occur. Then the part I have to prevent this in the future. This will be a bolt on repair with no welding required. you will have to tap and existing boss and then bolt it.
