Hi guys, I have a ?, I have a 450r that i have been running vp race fuel/93 pump gas in, I mix it 50/50. But this time of the year I have trouble finding the vp, I was woundering if I could use 93 pump gas and just mix some octane booster in it???? Here is a list of my mods, 470 big bore kit with a JE 14:5:1 high compression piston. Stage 3 hotcam. Stroker crank. Boysen acclerator pump. Hmf iron man exhaust. Thanks alot Bobby...

Octane booster is useless in my opinion. It's not the same as a good quality race gas, and you won't be able to attain the desired octane for 14.5:1 compression. You will want atleast 110 for that high of compression.

How about airplane fuel? its 110+ somebody tryed telling me that it has higher oxygen tho... see I live in a small town and thiers only one gas station that sells vp and they might be out for the season..

try looking at the closest Harley shop. I just got 5 5gallon cans from them, most Harley shops have the vp and dont sell out at the end of season

:::: edit I found this quote about the specific gravity

Avgas is less dense than most racing gasolines. Instead of weighing about 6.1 to 6.3 pounds per gallon like racing gasoline, it weighs 5.8 to 5.9 pounds per gallon. The racer must compensate for this by changing to richer (larger) jets in the carburetor when changing from racing gasoline to avgas.

115 is for special purpose air show and race planes!! google av gas octane and make sure what type your getting

Ive been running av 100LL exclusively for over a year. LL means low lead. Its rated dont quote me but I think at 103 octane. For my 13:1 this is perfect. The lead is a good natural luburcant for the head and valves and what not. It will def lean you out and I have had to compensate for this. I like running it because 1) its cheaper than race gas or even pump 100 you can find at some gas stations 2) its highly regulated so you get a very consistant fuel as opposed to gas station 100 that who knows how long its been sitting there. My $0.02

to compensate for it running lean you have to jet a little larger
