Alright, I'll start by saying, this is a great exhaust if you just read this first. The clamp idea originated from CJM but due to him not having his own camera I'll go ahead and explain this.

What you'll want on hand.

The WD40 can make things easier, which may not be needed if you just purchased this exhaust.
Something to pull the springs with, a spanner wrench will work.
Finally, the 2" (51mm) exhaust clamp (Autozone; under $3).

Alright, with this stuff in hand, you are ready to install the exhaust.

You will want to take your mid-pipe out of the box along with the spacer (the spacer for the header/mid-pipe). Take the spacer and put it into the mid-pipe as far as it will go then slip it onto the header and line up the mount (going this route the spacer will not cover the whole end of the header but ultimately saves your ALUMINUM spacer from getting the snot beat out of it).

Example of the spacer getting ruined (because I didn't originally have the clamp):

Put in the bolt and do not tighten it. Put together the strap for the exhaust and put that together then put the pipe onto the mid-pipe along with the bolt and spacer holding on the pipe itself. Tighten both bolts holding the exhaust at this point and put on your springs, then take your clamp and put it on like this.

The exhaust should now be solid and barely leak (if any).

I haven't rode with this rebuild done to the exhaust but immediately it eliminated rattling and most of my leaking situation. Make sure not to over tighten or under tighten the clamp, use good judgment.

If you want to eliminate leak totally (which most should be) you could purchase Clear RTV silicone (http://www.harborfreight.com/3-oz-clear-rtv-silicone-96041.html). Just be sure if you don't order it from here that it can with stand the heat, in this case it can resist up to 500F.

Hope this helps. :p

Im currently working on an idea where Im either going to expand the end of the stock muffler to fit the lexx midpipe better and make it connect like the stock system

Or Im going to weld on an adapter.

Ian, I dont feel like taking mine all apart-do you know the inside diameter of the lexx midpipe?

Well, I don't know but since I made mine nice and loose today I could probably check tomorrow for you. :o

Do it if you can. I would take mine apart but I dont have the time.

Once I find out the size Ill get it setup and let ya know.

Course all of this could be eliminated totally if I upgraded to a full exhaust lol. But thats like 500 bucks.

It sucks that your spacer moves because mine doesn't. But I'll see if I can't get some measurements for you. Without a gauge I doubt I'll get a spot on measurement, shouldn't it be close to 2"?

And yea, not only is it about $500, but my little stock engine doesn't really need a new header yet so I'll just make due with what I have! I guess. :o

I've done this exact same muffler clamp mod to my Lexx. So far it's worked like a charm. After a full weekend at the dunes everything was still nice and tight, nothing loosened, leaked, vibrated, or fell off.

Indecently I measured the inside diameter of my Lexx mid pipe at approximately 1.93 to 1.94" give or take. This is on a pipe that I've used for most of the year before adding the extra clamp.

Rkangel7 Thank you!

Ill double check mine when Im ready but this means I can probably expand it slightly and make the exhaust header 2 inches.

That's great that you measured that, Rkangel7. I hope mine holds up just as well as yours had.

Also I hope everything turns out good for you CJM, I can't wait to see pictures. :p

You're welcome, guys. Glad I could help!

Yeah, my aluminum spacer had gotten pretty beat up, too. This has been the only complaint I have about the Lexx. The 400ex's rubber-isolated exhaust mounts simply allow too much movement between the mid pipe and header without a more secure connection there. Thankfully a 3 dollar clamp is a cheap fix.

No kidding, doesn't really help when the mounts are just metal pieces in the subframe either. But like you said, the 3 dollars makes it reputable cheaply. :p

It is definitely a nice exhaust once mounted nicely.

Agreed!

Also there is enough room on the exhaust clamp to add jam nuts if you are worried about anything vibrating loose, or even something like blue loctite. Although, I haven't had anything come loose yet.

Thanks! These things can whisper if you want them to; they come with a silencer/arrestor and race tip. Oh and just when you thought it was quiet, they even have a turn down you can buy for it, lol.
