What ideas do you have for new products in the ATV/MX world that should be developed?

someone should make a cover or some type of body kit that makes it look like a dirtbike so our racing can be televised and more mainstream sponsors start to take notice

It was a joke. he was just stating that bikes get more tv coverage then quads and we need to do something like them to get the tv coverage

TV coverage? We can't even get a full gate. No one is going to show a pro race on tv with six or seven empty gates.

Lawnmower racing gets more tv time than atvs! think the speed channel could spare an hour or half hour from all day nascar reports to show atv racing or tv show!

haha for real ..... all day nascar and ball coverage gets old....im sure it wouldnt hurt to spare an hour

how about a lowering subframe that doesnt cost an arm and a leg

if you get the tv coverage, the numbers in the pro class will follow. The WPSA series wasn't a success for the two years it was around for nothing. The whole reason half the manufactures were in the sport was because of that series and its tv coverage.

Now back to the ideas,I have an idea for a braking system that would be awesome ,problem if i tell you guys what it is someone would copy it and make a fortune but i got one idea that i can tell you i think would be good is a steering stem that is a shock in one would cut down vibration and jarring hits ,Another idea i have is a air induction system id like to try but just dont have the funding to see if it works.the manufactors should come out with a 450 v-twin motor ,appilla has one that puts out 60hp stock can you imagine what the aftermaket parts/motorbuilders could do with that motor, you could have 70-80hp motors no problem!

with the Vtwin you would also pack on a bunch of weight and the power delivery is really different, thats why aprillia is the only one doing it.

a little weight but not much ATK made a lightweight one they were showing at trade show was small/light and i dont know about the power but it was in dirtbike its a 550 but they were talking about a 450 as well you never know how it would work until it done but I think it would kick butt !If its in a dirtbike why not a quad?

it wasnt a big success in a dirtbike, thats what i was saying... if it would be that much better then it would have been done

I'm with Canadian144. I'd like to see some direct fuel injection technology applied to 2-stroke motorcycles and ATVs. The outboard boat motors have been doing it for years, and some of them actually burn cleaner than the 4-strokes.

I'd love to see a new 2-stroke hit the market, and the technology certainly exists to make it as clean-burning as any 4-stroke out there today.

^^^^^ agreed but any direct injection in 2 or 4 strokes would be awesome

I'm waiting until a goggle manufacturer develops biodegrable tear-offs.. that way there will not be a need to have spend a few hours cleaning up plastic tear-offs at a tarck or for the woods warriors it won't be polluting the environment. If they can make pastic bags that decompose after 30 days it shouldn't be a problem for the manufacturers to do so.

Good to see others see it the same way!

If you ever look over on Thumpertalk (big dirtbike forum).... you will see that there are a LOT of folks who switched from 2 stroke to 4 stroke and BACK to 2 stroke. 2 strokes are making a strong comeback in the dirtbike world, and lots of people are asking for a Direct Injected 2-stroke, as wilkin mentioned.

If 2-stroke MX bikes make a comeback (only Yamaha and KTM are still producing them), I can't see why a 2-stroke sport quad would be out of the question.

strongly agree 2strokes making a comeback!

me and 5 of my friends were on 4strokes last year and this year we all got 2strokes (rms and kxs)

one of my friends is pro and on a ktm 2stroke

also some other pros from here are putting kx250 motors in kx250f chassis, same with the suzukis

2 stroke all the way

part of the reason for the huge 2 stroke dirtbike swing is because they allow 250 2 strokes to compete in the 250f class

Fair enough, but that just goes to show you how much more power a 2-stroke makes compared to a 4-stroke of the same size.

Of equal importance is definitely cost. Rebuilding a 4-stroke is no pocket change. On a 2-stroke.... slap in a new piston & gaskets for about $150 and you're good to go.

dirtrider77

yep i was tired of regular piston/rings plus d**** valves

when i could have twice the power at half the cost

it was a easy choice

Lets hear some more Ideas ,tired of hearing these 2-stroke never gonna happen ideas, lets hear some real ideas and not 2-stroke BS!I cant believe there racing 250 2-stroke vrs 250 4-strokes thats just plain retarded ! you cant say that because they have the same cc,s there equal. each motor performs in a different manner,s one goes up to down making 2 stroke the other which is slower cause it has 4 positions to go to thats why you cant compare 2-4 stroke but by hps there putting out at cc,s. that (250 2-stroke vrs 250 4-stroke)is retarded ,wonder why people are switching to the 2-stroke for that class! You would be a retard not too!and if there going to do that then abolish the ban on V-twins and let the manufactors built V-twin 450 quads then see whats up!
