Well guys some of u may remember my 426 before and after pics.
Well i sent the frame for sandblasting today and it will be done tomorrow and i can go pick it up so then the rebuilt begins.
I had to cut a couple corners because of the new addition (my truck)
So i couldnt go all out like i wanted to but it should still be nice.

I do have one question for you guys though, Since i cant get the frame powder coated, im just going to paint it.
But my question is what should i paint it with to help with durability some, i was going to do a primer and then mayb 2 coats of semi-gloss black Rustoleum.

need some help and i will be posting pics, im gonna try and get photobucket working for me because as of now it still wont let me upload pics

I would spray it with some automotive paint and primer. Even the spray can kind holds up better than plain jane rattle can

Main thing I would do is make sure you clearcoat it, that way the actual paint color is protected well.

o and here is the reason i dont have as much money to spend on the quad (its the one on the right haha)

Ya i planned on some sort of clear coat, i could prob have one of my buddies do it at tech because there in the body/ paint shop

call up a decent auto body shop and ask them what they have for paints. I know a friend of mine that paints at an auto shop mentioned to me the other day he has some stuff that is similar to rhyno lining for truck beds, and if i remember correctly he said its a smooth finish vs a textured finish like rhyno. i think the only diference is its baked at a higher temp. and that gives it a more powder coat like finish...

You would be surprised how much it costs to paint it correctly. I only painted a frame 1 time and I will never do it again. Between sandpaper, primer, base coat, catalyst/hardner, reducer and clear coat it cost me right around $140 to do a quality automotive paint job (just gloss black) and thats with me sandblasting it myself. Its only $150 - $200 to have it blasted and powdercoated one solid color and then you can have little parts done for CHEAP if you want sense their guns already loaded. I did a 250r back in the day and it only cost me $225 to PC the frame, swingarm, steering stem and my nerf bars. I know prices havent changed either because I just had a frame and some parts done for one of my custom choppers I built a few months ago.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to know what that stuff is called.

its basically rock guard. it may be called something else by other manufacturers. a few years ago, i was side swiped and had to have my truck repaired.

since it wasn't me paying for it i couldn't do it myself and had to have a shop do it  anyway long story short is that i had the body shop put that on the lower half (molding on down) of my truck.

i don't know how much it cost since i didn't pay the bill, but i do know if had held up well until i traded off the truck.(about 4 years)

i got a quote of 250-300 for powder in Bike Black that was with him sand blasting it, i could have my buddy do alot of the smaller stuff because he has the stuff to powder coat but doesnt have a big enough oven to bake bigger things, he jsut has an old kitchen oven

Wow thats way overpriced, if you shop around you should be able to find someone to sandblast and powdercoat it for under $200 pretty easy. The best most expensive shop in my town (theres 5 or 6 dif shops) charges $200 to sandblast and powdercoat any frame of any bike, atv or motorcyckle, street or dirt any single solid color you want.

Idk thats just one of my local shops, i figured i could save some cash by just painting it, and then finish my truck up before i can drive it(middle of this coming summer) after the truck is done i do plan on doing a little more to the quad mayb could do do something then, just not sure yet

On another note i didnt get my frame back today they said they got busy and everything got delayed so mayb tomorrow

Wow just picked this up, sorry guys i got the quote wrong that was with 2 frames, mine and one of my buddies frames.
It was between 150-200 if he sandblasted, i just got it sandblasted so it would be about 150$ for powder

You ever used the "paint shop finish system" stuff by Duplicolor? It actually works good and isnt badly priced. If you dont know how to mix auto paint it is a good way to go because its all premixed and ready to spray right out of the can. Mixing auto paint can be very tricky and easily messed up if you dont know what your doing. Duplicolor has like a dozen colors to choose from and its like $20 a can for base coat (one can will do a whole frame easily) and like $20 a can of clear. I have never used it on a frame but have done parts with it and it holds up quite well. If I were you id rattle can the primer and spray this stuff over top of it and have a descent $50 paint job.
Haha, I proof read this and I sound like a freaking duplicolor salesmen, but the stuff really does work good lol

I was thinking about picking up some of the aerosol bedliner from Autozone for my rims. What brand did you use? And did you brush it on?

Ok well its Raining today so im not going to do any painting because i was doing outside on a stand we have set up.

If the rain stops maybe it will dry out some by tomorrow or Saturday then i can get the frame painted and get this thing to a roller again.
I still have to clean the motor up and make it nicer because it had oil all over the back of it because of the old blown out rear shock.

Got the second coat on my subframe and the first coat on my frame.
Got some crappy pics but ill post them anyway.

Was gonna have in it a roller tommorow but need to get new front wheel bearings, steering stem bearing, and polish a bunch of parts before i can get her to a roller yet.

Was painting my rear hubs too thats why the spray can is there, dont have pics of them yet only have 1 done
Havent got my front ones off the spindles yet
