ride every chance you get, and ride hard.
try and build up stamina, go jogging every morning or something.
what ever you feel necessary, the more work you put in, the better the result in the end.

RIDE RIDE RIDE. There is no replacement for seat time. But running, lifting and biking are all good cross training. Alot of my friends that run GNCC and harescrambles train on a MX track. The rougher the better. Your diet will help more than you think with arm pump and stamina.

I don't race now. Im old! But i did race in 06-07. Had a yfz in 06 and didn't do worth a crap! I don't like to lose so i went out and bought me a new (at the time) 07 trx450r. I would do 10 mins on a stationary bike (low impact on the knees). Get off and do 20 push ups, 20 situps, and 20 squats. Then 100 reps. With hand/forearm crunches while i was outta breath. Do that for 60 mins. Eat right! No caffeine. None! Drink water or gatorade only. Eat right. Lots of fruits and veggies and lean meats. Fish, chicken, stake. Stay away from greese. Especially 3 days before a race. And ride and maintain the the hell out of your machine. Make a check list of everything you need to check and maintain before and after a race. The more training u do the better shape u will be in so start now if you haven't already. I ended up winning the regional championship and the district 17 championship at the age of 32 using this regiment. It worked for me! Good luck!

other than running/ cardio and core workouts, hang suspended from a pull-up bar for 90 sec intervals to reduce arm pump. as far as being able to ride hard and push while you ARE tired, ride 2 more laps than you think is possible, till you can no longer push in the throttle. I ride 20 min motos. my practice day at the track goes, 20min moto, 1hr break, 20min moto, 1hr break, 20min moto.

if you can do this and ride hard the whole time, you will be working your way into shape for sure. mx or xc
