so i had the frozen swing arm bolt caper, and after the frustration i will never go more than a couple months before re greasing. anyways i was at a dead end with it so out came the acetylene torch and i got the swing arm out, but i also seem to have melted the swing arm a bit, so im looking for a replacement. my question is will a 2004 400ex swing arm fit on my 2005 400ex? cause thats all i can find in my price range nearby

did you just melt the seals on the ends? they are replaceable with the correct kit, i actually just looked at the kit since i will be doing mine for the first time next spring or over christmas break depending on how the snow conditions are. lol steve

hopefully it works, that should have everything that could melt in there depending on where it melted at. steve

I'm pretty sure they are the same. Honda uses different part numbers for the swingarm itself, but all the hardware, the carrier bearing, etc. are the same.

Hit me up on a pm if you want. I've got an '04 in great condition that I'll sell. Low hours on the bike when the air cleaner came loose and it ate dust. If it doesn't work, I'll take it back and you're just out shipping.
