your gonna need to run race gas and get some heavy duty head studs with the 12:1 compression. It doesnt say what kind of gaskets come with it either. I think you need an mls type of head gasket I would save up some $ and buy quality gaskets and stay away from the 12:1 comp. but it also depends on what kind of riding you do.

i don't need hd studs for a 12:1 compression stock bore do i ?

it comes with cometic gaskets i believe and they should be just fine.

what about this kit

that would definitely be pushing it. i pulled a stud on an 11:1 setup. the bore does affect the chances of your head studs pulling only because bigger bores cause more heat. it is mostly dependent on the compression you are running. 12:1 is up there. also, are you sure you're cylinder is still in round? a 2007 is not old, but depending on how many hours it has on it, it could very well be time to clean up the bore. i would hate to see you put in a new piston, only to start smoking 6 months later.

It's a year riden on it. I think the cylinder is fine. I suppose i should just go with a 416 11:1 then eh?

It doesnt matter if the cylinder is brand new with a high comp piston u run the risk of pulling head studs, which the EX is know for if u run high comp

I run 11:1 and dont have the HD head studs but if i go to 12:1 or 12.5:1 (which i plan on it the future) i will deff go for the HD studs

Its just cheap insurance against a leaky head gasket and having to take it apart later to fix it

11:1 isn't too bad and i thought 12:1 would still handle it but i guess not.

The z400's and stuff are 11:1 stock and their studs don't look like much either. course that's a liquid cooled beast.

Ya the z is a completely different motor
11:1 isnt much, the stock studs could prob hold it but for the 60 some $ it is to get them from GTT its cheap insurance

heres a link to there site and the head studs

If someone else didn't already say it, liquid cooled engines deal with compression better also.

yeah for sure go out to a 416, its only and extra 65 bucks or so for the bore and hone... it would be so worth it. Do the HD studs and if you get a 12:1 you should probably get a bigger oil cooler, tank, or spal fan. Or all three?? lol
