I'm gonna try and start my build thread on this forum as well. This is my 2001 Lobo chassis with a 431 Puma motor. It should have plenty of bling and a ton of HP to back it up. Enjoy the photos. http://s979.photobucket.com/albums/ae274/543215196/LoPuma%20Project%202/ I'm trying to post a link to photobucket..

Did you have any clearance issues with the top of the carb hitting the frames rear crossmember ?

Looks awesome man!!:macho

But what kind of silencer is hooked to the middle pipe in pic #17? It looks very long.

Hey guys, I just got back to my computer. Anyway, I haven't tried to mount the carb yet so I don't know if it hits yet or not? Thats why I'm mocking everything up before I get it repowdercoated! My steering stem hits my radiator so far. So I gotta deal with that. I'll probably notch the radiator mounts first and see if that works! As for pic #17 I believe that pipe is the ESR pipe, thats just how they look. The pipes expansion chamber is real big in diameter, but not very long so the connecting pipe that goes to the silencer is longer. It still ends up in the same spot though. The thing on that setup thats longer is the silencer. Its that long so the bike will pass the decimal limit. So you don't get tickets. Dam rangers!!I do wanna see how each pipe runs on the Puma though. My PSI pipe has a 1 1/4 connection at the stinger, so its larger just like the shearer pipe that I have (which I hear runs like crap on the bottom end) so it sould be interesting to see how it preforms!!! I'll do a little testing and see which pipe runs the best and go from there. Thanks for all the props guys!!! I should have more work done buy next weekend and more pics to come. So stay tuned!!!!!

my carb doesn't hit but the carb boot isn't quite in the right spot i used an air box eliminator on mine cause the carb sits much further back then stock.

Yeah I have an airbox eliminator kit to put on as well. Mine is the kit that bolts between the frame. It has a metal bracket that the carb boot attaches to then the K&N filter clamps to the backside of the bracket If I run into problems then I'll probably have to buy an ESR air box eliminator kit. Insted of the one that I have currently. Not sure where the rear brake resivor will end up though. Right now it bolts to the same bracket as the K&N does?? Is that how your is set up?

the one i have is from ebay it uses the rubber peices that hold that OEM airbox on one side gets punched on other has a hook that rests on the left side and then carb to on front side and Filter on back.

we had to move the mounting back 1-2" and we used a small bolt. drilled through the frame and mimicked the stock rubber boot mount with the bolt head. this placed the carb nicely, but beware of the chain grabbing your filter at full compression :eek2:

ill see if i got photos of it still

the CSFX silencer works great to quiet this motor down to proper level for sound restricted areas

Thanks for the tips, I'll get into mounting everything else this weekend. Plus I'm trying to find a rear shock too. There's one on E-bay its a PEP shock thats 17", but is said to be adjustable up to 18" due to an internal 1" spacer. So we'll see. I'm waiting to hear back from Mark Baldwin about it!!! Wish me luck!!

Yeah the Shearer pipe came with the motor that I bought, so I wanna at least try it out before I buy another one!!! As for the Roll Design bar clamp I bought 2 of them one for each of my builds, Thanks though. Right now I'm just getting everything mocked up to make sure it all fits. I've yet to start it up. I just got my coil mount today from Pumashine, along with a bunch of other goodies that I needed to finish up my build. I'm not gonna put everything on until after its all powdercoated and polished up. Its gonna look alot different when I put everything else on it that I've bought for it. Hopefully I'll be able to get it started within a couple weekends!!!! I can't wait!! Oh and I still have everything for the PSI I might send it to Pete at Hybrid if he wants to tackle it for me. My bottomend on the PSI motor is rebuiit I just have to do something with the cylinder???

Hey Keith,

Build is looking NICE. IMO that motor has more potential in it and I think some HP could be gained by having Pete cut you a new dome. That is what I would do if the motor was still mine. Pipe, dome, carb, & timing combo is mighty critical on these motors, just ask the other Puma owners.

Can't wait to see it all done and I hope you enjoy the hell out of it.

Hey Kyle was the crank welded on that motor? I am taking mine back apart to get the tins welded in.

Higgy87TRX425
02-09-2011, 12:55 PM
Yeah Kyle I was curious if you had the Tins on this crank were welded up before it was put together? Its gonna be apart for inspection and probably for powdercoating or maybe polishing the bottomend anyway so If its not done I'm gonna have it done then. So hit me back and let me know please. I wanna try and have any issues resolved before I finish this bike so it'll last longer!!!
