Hey guys! I am wondering if you can help me out and explain some of these changes for me and answer a couple of questions.

1) What is the major difference in the swinger setups?
2) is any setup better than another
3) which is the best overall geometry in the frames?
4) Does the axle fit all of the different swingers and carriers?
5) Is there a vin decoder? I want to verify that my frame is indeed an 87 frame.
6) Stock jetting specs?

I am trying to figure out what i have on the rest of the machine for future reference. I have an 85 swinger and linkage now, the wrong front shocks, and that looks to be about it. I will be getting some 87 shocks that are blue to match the originals and hopefully finding the correct rear end setup. That should be it then for parts wise.
thanks, steve

Thanks, Ive read that already. This is why i asked the question. I want to find out if some of this stuff i have is the same as other years so i dont buy more stuff. expecially the swinger and linkage. I can find blue shocks for it, thats not a big deal. I just want to make sure i get the right swinger and related to complete my restoration on it. steve

86-87 swingarms are steel and +1 inch long then the 88-89 aluminum swingarms. linkages and shocks are diffrent lingths depending on the year also.

axles carriors are the same

I have an 85 setup for my rear end. can just the linkage be an 85 linkage with an 87 swinger or do they both have to be 85. I believe after reading over my other thread about the skidplate that it is all from an 85 including the carrier since it has a different adjuster on it compared to most. is there any more info on that? Thanks, steve

You should be fine with that linkage.88/89 has a shorter dog bone. Also make sure you get the correct rear shock as the 88/89 is slightly shorter to the previous years.

Is there a difference between red rear shocks and blue rear shocks? I have a red one now, blue was stock along with the blue fronts. thats why i am looking for all blue stuff, this is a resto-mod so i want to get most of it original if possible and then add some smaller stuff that is hard to find with new stuff. I have almost everything that needs to be changed for it now except the shocks and the rear end. I plan to take the fronts from you also. I have someone with an antifreeze bottle and a carb available that i may take from him, and someone with rear shock and case saver i will probably be taking too. Then that will pretty much conclude the list of OEM stuff i am going to get for it.

That red rear in the pic was an 88 rear that I sold a while back I'm not sure if you can tell the difference just by the colors or not. I do have a really nice stock carb ill sell also. I can throw in a brand new motion pro twist throttle with it.

How much for the carb? I am in the works with both the bottle and the carb for a pretty good price right now.

Also, you have some $$$ my address and such is in the email.

Thanks, Steve

How does $120 for everything shipped sound? It will include jets and a needle that should be close to what you need.

I cant do it for another 70. I can get a clean bottle and carb for 85 from the other guy as a combo. I would have to do about 50 bucks on it shipped to want to back out of the deal i have already. I dont really need a twist either so you could sell that seperate possibly. I also have all of the jets i need for it too. steve

I'll do $100 shipped minus the twist throttle. Let me know.
