well I have a couple midsize dents I need to pull out of my silverado. I tried the suction cup style but it just comes off before the dent pops out. I was told they have a different style of dent puller requiring to drill a hole, but the body shops want to charge an arm and a leg, they want to fiberglass everything and paint and what not. The truck is a 95 so I could care less about perfection, I jsut want to pull the majority out. I can deal with a little hole, I was concerned about rust, but is it necessary to fiberglass and everything? Like I said perfection is not my goal, and I bought the truck to sell so im not looking to spend big bucks. thanks, neil

dude you dont drill a hole to pull a dent, u use a stud welder, then you use a slide hammer to pull the dent.

suction cup is only going to pull out a large dent

^ Yes, use a stud puller. The stud puller welds a small stud to your dent then pull it with the slide hammer. After the dent is pulled body filler is applied to straighten up any low spots, primer, then block sand and paint.

If you're looking at getting that complex, is there a reason you can't pull the panels off and push them from behind?

I dont have a welding machine, I have a drill. there are dent pullers that require you to drill hole, screw the dent puller into the hole, and use the weight to pull out the dent. I dont want to use bondo because that will require paint, Im not worried about the ripples, it will be better than a dent. If I just put the little bit of bondo in the hole I drill, should the rust problem be solved? thanks, neil

Bondo is not gonna seal the hole up all that easy, thats why the bodyshop wanted to fiberglass it.

Take some pics, I can tell you right now if you can even get them out without drilling 90 freaking holes for each one.

What kind of dents are these? Like a door ding, or something that has actually put a crease in the body?? I would highly suggest, calling a dentless repair guy. I am anal as **** about my truck, have had about 5 dents removed from a dentless repair guy.. I was very skeptical, but after seeing them repair cars at the dealer fro hail damage I was sold....

dude you drill a hole in your body your going to have rust and moisture issues. your best bet is to get a stud welder from harbor freight tools and get a few studs and pull the dent out til its within a quater of an inch or so and then put some bondo in the low spot, sand, prime then paint. its not as complicated as it sounds. its fairly easy.

heres the stud welder and you can see what i am talking about

Not bashing your idea, but that is not the best advice.. Unless you are very familiar with body work, blocking, trying to do this your self could wined up costing you more then it would to have the dent fixed by a pro. If he is exp then thats a plus. No reg guy is going to be able to go through these steps and have a end result that is worth a ****, unless they are blessed by god.. Jus saying

I do body work and went to college for it and without using a stud welder or the old school hole drill slide hammer your not goin to pull a dent and it be perfect. If the suction cup dosent work then try to get behind it and pushing. If that dosent work then buy a paintless dent repair kit. If you drill a hole and use the old style dent pulling you have to weld that hole up or it will rust out no matter what you use to fill in the hole such as bondo/fiberglass/duraglass/kitty hair/what ever u want to use. over time mositure will get behind it and it will rise and look like a pile.

See if the dealer can have a specialist pull it out. I pay $45 to have a deep dent pull from the hood.
