Gearing Question?

Hey guys, just wondering what sprockets to run on my 400EX. My mods are listed in my signature. I have an MX inspired bike with 20" tires. I am using stock gearing right now. And will different sprockets require a longer or shorter chain? or can i adjust the chain to compensate?

In my case Im going up to a 16 tooth front sprocket to take advantage of the overall gains in each gear.
