I have a 2002 honda 400ex. I ride mainly pits and trails, I race dirt bikes normally, I just like to keep that strictly for track, the 400ex is more my beater. I just got it and i'm kind of familiar with some of the parts but i just wanted to see your opinions... I wanted to do an HMF slip on, HRC kit (if i can find it anywhere.. help with that would also be sweet :D ), and maybe a 440 big bore, port, and 450r carb. also would i need a revbox? and would i need to get any extra cooling?

Sounds pretty typical but sorry I dunno what an "HRC kit is", get a stage 1 or 2 hotcam.

yeah it's for an xr400 i thought maybe i could do a little conversion but the motors are setup differently. What about webcams or crower? and stage 1 is for more lowend and 2 is for top? Also what's the highest comp piston i can get and run 91 gas on, i think it's 10-1?

hrc kit would be good on a stock internals engine. It includes a different cam, along with a couple of jets. I am not sure if it has a filter or not though. With a 440 kit you might as well go with a stage 1 or 2 depending on where you want your power and how fast you like to ride. since you ride pits and such, it is usually better to go with a stage 2 for that style of riding. I dont see the hrc around very often. the hmf with the cam will be a great addition to go with a 450r carb. dont waste the money on a rev box either. Dont forget about the shocks and such also, that is one of the first things that should be changed to something better. 450r stock shocks are a great cheap alternative to aftermarket setups. Especially when valved and sprung for your weight. for cooling scoops will help out quite a bit and possibly a spal 4" puller fan mounted on the rad or a bigger tank would be good. steve
